Can't Install the Game

The installation keeps getting stuck at either allocating disk, creating local game files or preparing the sims 3 files for install. And while that happens, my download starts fine, but once the download finishes, the allocating or creating local game files window still does not close, and when I click cancel, it deletes the newly downloaded game.

Save here... I just bought some new expansion packs. After downloading them the game wouldn't open giving me a error message. So I uninstalled the game (and the packs) and tried to redownload it. The download goes fine, but it keeps getting stuck at the creating game files window.

I USED to have this problem! Try to shut down your steam w=as a whole, not just hitting the exit bar. Go back on and hit install. Keep waiting if it doesn't go off the start. After a few hours, if it still doesn't work, do it again and again and eventually it will work! I was scared about it, but then found the answer. just wait mostly.

I have similar problems after each forced update in windows 10. I'm going back to windows 8, for one, and for two, I just have to keep deleting and re-installing. Also Sims 3 is still available on the EA/Origin website.

having the same problem i complete the download then nothing makes me re download again. i think what is most discouraging is i cant even find any history of the game in my drive to try and do a install another way outside of steam ( i bought everything through steam as well the complete bundle pack i dont know if that makes a difference or not.)

Did you try clearing your Steam download cache? Something stuck in there can interfere with getting a good download and install.

Steam -> Settings -> Downloads -> Clear Download Cache

You will have to log in to Steam again, but this often fixes problems with games and content that don't download properly.

Yeah, tried it. Somehow it worked now, I don't even know what I did lol.
