Help with 'Adults in this family are already travelling'
The husband of my main character went on a free week's vacation. Something happened with the game and now he doesn't show up in the family list. I had two bots that were on vacation Iit was only for the adults while there were children) and I used a machine to remote view them and then they showed up in the game as valid characters (I couldn't play as them until I did this). One of the bots had frozen and wouldn't move until I resetsim that one also. I can't move to a new town or travel to the future because it keeps saying 'Adults in this family are already travelling'. I did a resetsim on the husband, but with no success. Any help or suggeswtions would be greatly appreciated!

Since no one else has come up with a suggestion so far (I'm sure someone will understand this issue better than I do), I'll take a shot :D:

What I'd try first is installing the Nraas ErrorTrap mod, and then load the game and see if anything can be worked out from there. https://www.nraas.net/community/ErrorTrap

This sounds suspiciously like the "free vacation" bug that sometimes crops up with Generations installed. I think the whole idea was to get the parents out of the house, let the kids have free reign for a few days, and see what mayhem resulted from it. The devs were probably expecting some household mayhem (when the cat's away, the mice will play), but it actually resulted in whole-game mayhem when the adults just kind of disappeared and didn't return. It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens often enough that the conventional wisdom is that "free vacation" means "borked game," so most just say no to the offer when it crops up (the opportunity popped in my game yesterday - I declined it).

One fix which cropped up a couple or three years ago was to (1) go into the family's lot and move anything you want to keep into family storage, (2) go into Edit Town mode and save a copy of the family to the bin (I forget whether that's with or without their house, but I'd go without since you already moved the important stuff), (3) evict the family to the clipboard, (4) place the bin copy of the family into the house (or another one), (5) return to game mode and keep playing. The downside of this fix is that all of your wishes and relationships with the rest of the town are gone, but the upside is that you still have your family with all of their stuff, skills, inventory, lifetime reward points, and that kind of thing.

If that or cruinne's suggestion of letting ErrorTrap go at it don't work, your only recourse is going to be to revert to an earlier save. You might have to replay a few days, but at least you'll have a working household and will know to say "no thanks" the next time the opportunity crops up.

Agree with marstinson's suggestions. Even with all of the mod protection in the world (and certainly without it), the Generations free vacation opportunity is hopelessly flawed and cannot be fixed so that this kind of thing stops happening -- some players are lucky and never see it, but many still do. The scenario is best to be avoided entirely.
