One is to work around this annoyance by always having your plants/crops in a fenced in area locked by a gate that the zombies cannot access. This could theoretically backfire if a zombie spawns inside of such an area and gets locked in with the plants instead of locked out, but there aren't many players reporting having seen this happen.
Another is to use the built-in Game Options to freeze the Lunar Cycle at something other than Full Moon. If there is no Full Moon, there are no zombies (rarely a sim can be turned into one through a spell or elixir, but that's not a regular occurrence for most of us). This in effect hurts werewolves and fairies who thrive under a Full Moon, but not having one is not life-threatening for them.
Thirdly, if not averse to using mods, a standalone tuning mod or NRaas Retuner can be used to disallow zombies in the first place.
I use the fenced in method myself, wherever it is feasible.

Funny thing is.. been dealing with this the least few days myself and also looked it up, Like the second comment said, there are a few ways..
I was going to fence them in myself buy my starter house doesn't have enough room for a fence for all my plants atm so i found out that just simply right clicking thtem and asking them to pose tends to lock them into just posing for a good bit, can do that even while sleeping haha.. for me anyway, it typically keeps them locked into posing most the night.. may have to ask them to pose maybe 3 times total.. have not really had to ask them to pose more then 4 times i believe
Ditto on this.. will be looking into it now myself when i buy larger house OR a large plot and get to building my own house / and now greenhouse haha :)
1 fairy and droid in this current house hold.. might see if I can befriend a witch/warlock and move them in to help deal with them, failing that.. potions or something can cure them from being zombies
