characters became invisible
Hello. I bought all the add-ons for the Sims 3 game. As soon as I started playing I went to university, I went to university several times. Everything was fine, no problem. But when my characters returned home, they began to be invisible, some characters are visible, some are invisible. I invited guests from abroad, and so. 2 characters became invisible, while the other two were visible. What's the problem? how to solve it?
I'm sorry for my bad english

The sims seem to be okay otherwise, you perhaps see their thought bubbles move around as if they are underground? What this usually means is that the sims' outfit assignments have gone bad. Not the outfits themselves, the sims' assignments to them. The fix that usually works is somehow getting the sims to change their clothes, even into the outfit they are already supposed to be wearing.

For an actively played sims, that should be pretty easy -- direct them to a dresser to Plan Outfit or have them start to do something like bathe or go swimming that would require an outfit change spin. For sims not under your active control, that might be a bit trickier.

If not averse to using mods, NRaas MasterController has outfit change commands that can be issued on the spot that usually fixes this for each individual sim. NRaas DebugEnabler has a Fix Invisible Sims command that is usually at least 90% effective in fixing these more globally, across the entire world being played.

Hello, I tried everything. I changed the sims, I teleported them and reinstall the game. Nothing helps, maybe the mod will help me? What say about The overwatch Mod for sims 3 ?

Overwatch is a fantastic mod and fixes many game-related issues. Then again I may be a little biased since I am actually "on staff" at NRaas myself. I've never heard of it fixing the invisible sim due to outfit assignments having gone bad issue in particular, but there won't be any harm in trying it.

MasterController (for the user directed outfit changes) and DebugEnabler (for the Fix Invisible Sims command) are two of our other mods. We have 39 in all available, not counting Ani's mods that she left in our care when she retired from TS3 a while back.

And don't forget the NRaas Traveler mod to stop this error happening during travel in the first place :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

Of course. But I still see (or rather do not see) invisible sims all over the place when I first land in a world that had never been played before within my ongoing game and the strategy to get their outfit assignments re-rolled either individually or collectively through DebugEnabler always works to fix it. I never see it on return travel back home nor a repeat trip to a destination already played within that game, or at least not for more than one sim here and there very rarely, and never on the same sim twice. Possibly Traveler together with Overwatch and ErrorTrap have been shielding us from the full effects of the bug for a very long time now.

Hello, I apologize for writing again about the same problem.
I will explain all my actions so that it is clear whether I made a mistake or not. And it will be convenient for other users who have the same problem.

I tried to install the mod that you recommended to fix the problem.
But ran into a problem, how to install? I tried using the standard sims program to download an additional component. But the mod that fixes the problem has the format - .packge
Therefore, I tried to install the mod using auxiliary programs, this is -S3PackageViewer and TS3 Install Helper Monkey

TS3 Install Helper Monkey - when opening the mod through this program, an error occurred - Export File: An object reference is not specified in the instance of the object. I opened about 30 forums on this problem, and I could not find a real solution.

S3PackageViewer - Here you can only load mods of a different format, such as clothing, appearance and so on. This mod could not be downloaded using this program

Then I found out that you can do it manually, haha...
In summary, I created a "Mods" file in a folder - \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\
And loaded the mod into an additional folder - Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages

In addition to everything, I uploaded a file - Resource.cfg
Because I read on the forum that it would not work without this file.
http://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Setup_and_Files

I downloaded one of your three mods in a folder (Packages) in order.

MasterController - I entered the command in the console - DebugEnabler
But I didn’t succeed and an error occurred - "unknown input command".

Overwatch - This mod also did not fix the problem.

http://joxi.ru/KAgj0xyTXeX4J2 - This is a link to a screenshot, people have disappeared and the icons of people have turned green

But, mod - ErrorTrap, coped with the problem, but too tough. - This mod has removed half of the sims in the family. I had a wife from the campus, and he removed her from the family and some of the other Sims from the same city.

http://joxi.ru/MAjjJyNTxZx45A - Here is a screenshot with a link to delete a command
"NRaas.ErrorTrap"
Script Error
My sim name^_^

At the beginning of the game, a window appears with the name of the mods, I hope this means that they are included.

As a result, the problem is solved and at the same time not solved =))

What say can you advise something? Sorry for my bad English, I hope you understand what I'm writing :steamfacepalm:

I'm very sorry you had to go through all of that, but if you did not know how to install mods or other forms of package based content (regular CC objects come this way also very often) then I wish you had said so, Many players here could have told you the correct procedure to use. And that place where you got the NRaas mods, we also have a forum and users there (including me) who love to help newer players. You just have to sign up to get a free membership in order to post over there.

You got it right in the end with the ModTheSims method, that one with the Resource.cfg file included is fine. If you really installed the Helper Monkey, your game is now probably ruined and will need to be uninstalled and reinstalled. That method for installing mods was only valid from 2009-mid 2010 when Ambitions and Patch 1.12 came out as that is when EA changed everything about how mods are meant to work. I am surprised there are still websites out there that offer this very outdated and now useless method. It is possible though that you didn't really install the Monkey or that it failed so badly that it didn't do any permanent harm. If you can start a new game with the mods installed properly and everything works as it should, it's difficult to say but you might be okay for new games going forward.

You do not need a Package Viewer unless you are trying to look inside of package files to see what they contain and that wouldn't make any sense for mods, which are programming code and not objects.

MasterController is a mod. It has menu commands under NRaas. DebugEnabler is another different mod. It has its own menu commands under NRaas. None of our mods use the cheats console to issue commands, they are all menu command driven. You click on City Hall, an in-game computer, a sim, lot, or object to get to the commands (which one to click on depends on which kind of command you are looking for). ErrorTrap is an exception because it is a Core Mod that has no menu commands at all.

By the time ErrorTrap deletes sims (or objects), it has deemed them to be so corrupt that they were never going to function at all and they have become useless data stuck in the game. If it really deleted sims you were playing, as opposed to unnecessary data copies of them, then they were already too broken to fix I'm afraid.

Thanks for the quick response! Ohh, I didn't know that you also have a forum, thank you very much for the advice, I will register with you today.
That's right, you say, my game stopped working, but I uninstall the programs for installing mods and everything works fine for me, I think I won’t have to reinstall it.

Oh yes, I did not see the forum with the latest new entries about Sims 3. I found information that was published in 2010. I just went to your forum and saw a lot of fresh messages and new information, now I will only read information on your forum =))
Thank you for explaining about the console and how the mod works - MasterController and DebugEnabler, ErrorTrap.
Initially, I thought that it works through the console

I decided to start a new game, already with the installed mods NRaas.
Thank you again for your help!
