How to put child up for Adoption?
I have an infant Sim I no longer want, so is it possible to put them up for adoption?

While you can adopt Sims, I don't think putting your own children up for adoption is in the game's mechanics. Probably the easiest way to handle it would be to go into Edit Town mode, split your household, and merge the child with another household in town. You might also be able to force the Social Worker to come take the child away. I remember seeing this on the menu at some point, but haven't tried it. Open the console (ctrl + shift + C), type in "testingcheatsenabled true" and press Enter. Now shift-click your mailbox, select "Force NPC", then look for the Social Worker. Or you can just neglect the kid (don't do the feeding, changing, and such) and the Social Worker will come on their own. I don't recall whether leaving the child alone on the lot will do that (just have everyone else in the household go somewhere off the home lot), but it might be worth a shot.
The game won't actually let you send everyone off lot without calling a babysitter, I don't think.

Best bet is probably neglecting the kid, alas, or maybe the split household thing. Just not sure if the game will allow you to split off a baby on its own or not.
If you have three or more people in your household, then it's not a problem. Split off the child and one other, merge them into the other household, then split off the other from that household and merge them back into yours. If you only have two in your household, then give it a shot. If it doesn't work, then getting the Social Worker to show up either by neglect or by cheat is going to be the least complicated method.

No matter which way you go, make a new save before you start in case something goes south.
Just neglect it. When they're about to starve, a social worker will appear and she will take your child and put him or her up for adoption.
You are a really bad parent.
I use fire BURN IT >:)

You could also buy birthday cakes and have them blow out the candles on one each day until they are old enough for you to kick them out.

Quick ticket to an irreparably corrupted save. The Delete function only gets rid of the instance, but leaves all of the underlying data intact. Eventually the game will want to do something with the baby, won't be able to find its instance, and will have the digital equivalent of screaming hissy fits when it can't find it.
