Hidden Trait Inheritence Question
I want to know if, say, I create a household with children of a character that later became the Fire Chief (Ambitions expansion)...and would the "immune to fire" "hidden trait" be automatically passed down to those children? Or does the Fire Chief have to first become the Fire Chief AND THEN a parent in order for the offspring to receive the hidden traits? Same for the pyromaniac, because I think it would be awesome to instill the power to start fires on demand.

Thank you.

i believe on the wiki i read somewhere that the burglar trait can be passed down to children (level 7 in the thief career branch)

True, and by the same token, children of police officers can inherit the "Can Apprehend Burglar" hidden trait. Makes for some interesting late-night encounters if you're playing over several generations and don't install a burglar alarm (if World Adventures in installed, pack on a few levels of Martial Arts so your odds of getting whupped are significantly lower).

Which brings me to a new question for discussion. How can I forcefully add hidden traits to Sims? I'm not yet sure if the cheats system in-game will allow me to do this. I can play around with the "normal" traits, but that's not the same thing.

I use MasterController with the Cheats add-on from nraas.wikispaces.com. I've been neck-deep in other stuff for a few months, so I'm going to have to work from memory on this, but you click on your Sim -> NRaas -> Master Controller -> Advanced -> Traits and then I think you select select Change or Add or somesuch. I think the hidden traits have an H next to them, but the interface otherwise behaves like adding traits in CAS. Master Controller does present you with a list all the traits in the game, but if you're selecting an EP-dependent trait and do not have that EP installed, it will not be able to add the trait.

I think this also helps. I stumbled onto this on my own, and have barely started playing around with it (it comes pre-packaged with a condition that skips most of the intro logos, which that alone is a nice benefit).

Yeah, that's the stuff that needs to be done to add mods into the game. Some stuff can be done through the launcher and downloads dashboard (worlds, objects, and that kind of thing), but the mod framework has to be set up before mods will work. That framework won't help with adding hidden traits, but drop Master Controller or some other mod that adds the capability into the Mods\packages folder and you'll be able to access them.
I figured that out on my own. Thanks for the input, though.
