By the way, I am making a big project on The Sims 3; I made a post on the steam forums. take a look if you want. :)
The Supernatural stuff (as others have said) is annoying AF and I just avoid it in my games. Oddly enough I love movies and shows about that stuff, but just not in my sims.
You are aware you can turn off the moon cycle and set it to just New Moon or any other moon phase but Full Moon and never deal with zombies again, right?
I also own all Sims 3 EP's and SP's (including the Katy Perry one), just not through Steam.
To the OP:
For me, I prefer Supernatural over Generations.
Supernatural comes with a new world. Generations does not come with a new world.
Supernatural allows me to create any living Supernatural species that existed prior to it or released with it (so no creating aliens, plant sims or mermaids).
Generations has bunk beds, sleeping bags (useful for world travel as they take up less space than a tent).
Generations adds more forced days off from work: graduation is a forced day off, marriage gives forced days off. Generations adds automatic groundings with bad logic. Teenager gets grounded for skipping school. Teen attempts to go to school the next day, gets scoulded for trying to leave the lot. Bus leaves. Teen gets scoulded for skipping school. It's fairly easy to get the grounding taken off early though, thankfully. And there are probably mods out there to stop that. My Sim kids and teens don't misbehave that often so I don't get to see that that often.
Also the creature that Generation added is the Imaginary Friend and it does have a tendency to bug out, sometimes in ways that destroy a save. There are mods to keep the game from generating Imaginary Friends.
Watch some vidoes of the two expansion packs and see what they are like, which one would you want.
