Tents
I don't suppose any of the expansion packs have tents in them. I wanted to start a new save with a homeless sim "household" and build a tent city on a lot with each sim having their own tent, If anyone has any other suggesstion how I can do this, I'm all ears :)

Thanks. Until I get the expansion pack, I think I'll build a small one room house to simulate a tent. No bathroom, no kitchen, etc. Just a cheap bed to sleep in. That's it.

Thanks :-)

Generations has a sleeping bag if you'd rather have that. Or, I believe Island Paradise has a tent that you don't have to cheat or go to another country for. It should just be available in Buy mode.

Yes, when I want to do homeless Sims, I just use the sleeping bags, since they can sleep nearly anywhere in those. Lousy night's sleep, tho :steambored:

Homeless sims will also sleep on park benches or, you could risk a sneaky bed for the night in the firestation. I have never been evicted or punished for this. Beds are real cheapies though. But, at least you have a loo and shower available.

You have to buy a lot. I assume you are setting cash to zero once you have placed your sim. So, you won't have money for sleeping bag, or tent anyway. :steamhappy:When playing a homeless Sim, I get a cheap bed as a priority and put it on my lot harvesting and selling wild fruit is one way of doing this.

I already got a homeless Sim save started last week, but at the time, I didn't know how to go broke. I do now. So at the time, I wrote the story as the Sim losing her job AND her apartment at the same time. She lost the job due to stupid corporate decisions that laid off a lot of people. Then she lost her apartment when her lease was up and the landlord didn't want to renew as he sold the property to be razed and turned to an office building. She could not get a new place due to a tough housing market and no job to pay rent.

So she was out on the streets with some money in the bank.

I used the money for her to go to classes and to buy a guitar for street performing. But that's all I used the money for. I set a minimum to her bank account and if the money reaches that minimum, then she can't spend any more.

I gave her a garden trait so she can grow stuff on her lot and sell them at the market to make a little cash. She also has the fishing trait so she can sell the fish that she catches.

But on my next save, my challenge is to have a group of homeless sims, each one with their own specific talent to help the group get by. One may garden, one may fish, one may play music, etc. Should be interesting. :-)

I don't have Seasons, must get that EP. I understand it really puts the pressure on when playing homeless sims. Rain, snow, storms etc. Makes the park-bench a non-starter in bad weather. :steamhappy:

I don't have Seasons either, but looks fun. I put it on my wishlist so I can watch for a Steam sale. That's how I got the Sims 3. Put it on my wishlist and a few weeks later, got a notification of a sale - Sims 3 for just $5. So I got it. Been playing Sims 3 for about a month now.
