cooking opportunity problem
I had a cooking opportunity that requires any meal to be delivered to a house. I made one meal, put it in my inventory, went to the house but the person does not accept.(forgot the reason)

I looked up the web to find a clue. Somewhere I read it said I have to put leftovers to fridge first then take to inventory from there. I did that with a pancake(breakfast) now it says I still don't have the necessary meal with me. Time is running out for the opportunity.

Someone help?

I think the thing i also weirdly specific about whether it is a single serving or a group meal, and will only take one. I believe a group meal is the correct one.

How do I cook a group meal? How many plates should I prepare?

When you have a sim prepare a meal (other than quick meals like cereal or ice cream and snacks), you always have a choice between a single serving and a group platter. The single serving will be something like Prepare (breakfast, etc.). The group serving will be something like Serve (breakfast, etc.) and includes eight servings of the recipe you choose on one platter. It's the group serving one you probably want, multiple plates are not required either way.

As far as I've understood from your reply I have to "serve a meal", is that right.?
I did that but in the fridge there is one meal it seems. But I'm not sure if its 8 or 1 plates or how to divide that. What do I do?

I tried everything I could do, preparing, serving, putting to fridge, taking into inventory. My inventory was filled with dishes of all kinds...Nothing worked and it was times up for the opportunity, fail. I don't get it. I possibly won't be taking cooking opportunities anymore...♥♥♥♥

If you do get it again and want to try:

  • First, prepare only one group meal. When you click on the fridge, the single-meal option is "Prepare" and the group meal option is "Serve" - so you will Serve.

  • Group meals look a lot like single meals, but contain several servings on the single plate. You can tell it's a group meal though because when you click on it, the options are different than on a single meal. For a single meal, the option is "Eat" and for a group meal it's "Grab a Plate".

  • Don't fuss about putting it in the fridge or whatever - just drag the whole group meal onto your Sim so that it goes into their inventory.

  • Most opportunities have a button on the opportunities tab to complete them. You don't have to use it, but it can make it easier (and I can't recall if this one has the button). So, the easiest way to complete is often to go to the target Sim, then click the button.

Thanks for the detailed help, appreciate that. I have completed other opportunities, I know abaut the thing you called a button.

Abaut the single/group meal stuff, I tried both of them and put it in my inventory but on my sims opportunity tab it displayed 0/1 meal. That meant I didn't have it in my inventory. But I had several different dishes both group and single. Afterwards all of them got spoiled anyway.

There was sth wrong but I don't really understand what it was.

Yeah, those cooking opportunity ones often didn't work for me either, so I just press the 'X' and I don't do them.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but in case someone else goes hunting for a solution for cooking issues:

Often, the opportunities involving meals require the meal to be of a certain quality, such as "Outstanding or better". Perhaps the meals you prepared weren't of a high enough quality.

Yes! It was to make the food "Outstanding" quality. I wish it made it more clear.
You have to buy a high end stove and tinker with it to improve food quality. "Kick it up a notch" will turn food from "Excellent" to "Outstanding".
Drag the plate it onto your sim inventory and you're good to go
Outstanding quality won't happen everytime, just keep trying different dishes
