Word of warning regarding getting Worlds from the store site, the button on the World's page doesn't always change from "Buy" to "Download", so you'll ocassionally need to find it in your "Purchases" list to download it. I know "Dragon Valley" is like that for me.
Some Store worlds (like Dragon Valley) can only be had for cash or a boatload of SimPoints that can only be obtained for cash. I'm still debating on whether to spring the cash for the few hundred more SimPoints I need to get Lunar Lakes, for example. Barnacle Bay, Roaring Heights, and Mote Vista are cash-only. I remember seeing a physical disc version with Dragon Valley at my local Walmart several months back, so that's a possibility.
EDIT: @cruinne had a link somewhere to a google spreadsheet that listed when Store stuff went on sale (maybe she can provide that again?), but my talking about those four specific worlds was because they are the four that I don't already have, don't feel like springing ~$100 to get (that's about what the game with all EPs and SPs costs during a Steam Sale), and didn't see listed in that spreadsheet. So if they go on sale, it's very VERY rarely.
Origin also sells some worlds (that you can download from Sims 3 store), but not all of them unfortunately, and not only those worlds are still way to expensive, they don't sell gold versions either, it's also likely you won't be able to get additional Sim points that you would receive by getting the worlds from Sims 3 store. Here are links if anyone is interested:
The Sims 3 World Bundle[www.origin.com] - includes Hidden Springs and Monte Vista
The Sims 3 Barnacle Bay[www.origin.com] - as you can see from the name, it's Barnacle Bay only
The Sims 3 Dragon Valley[www.origin.com] - Dragon Valley.
The only reason to buy this stuff from Origin would be discounts, but it seems like EA never put anything related to Sims 3 on sale. Would be nice if they did world sales on Sims 3 store, then I might consider getting some of them.
