Packages not working at all
So I set up the mods folder in my Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 folder, but when I go to launch the game none of my packages are working. I'm testing it with the intro skip package, but it seems no matter what I do the packages do nothing. Help!

Running on Win 10 64 bit.

Hmm. Of course everything is in the right place as you said. But what strikes me as odd about your user game folder is that it actually hasn't been...used. There is no CurrentGame.sims3 folder even though of course it would be empty if the game were not running, there are no saves, there is no Library folder.

Was this meant to be a brand new, never been actually used game folder? If you load up a test game in some random world, save a lot down to the bin in Edit Town and save this test game, do the Library and Save folders then show up here?

Edit: LOL, would you please stop typing at the same time I am? Err, I mean, glad you got that resolved. Not sure how or why a reinstall did the trick, there must have been a permissions issue silently presenting itself somewhere in the chain, but all's well if it works properly now. :)

Also before anyone asks, yes all the spelling is correct and the Resource.cfg file is there, and I cleared the 5 caches.

1 - Just to confirm, the mods (package files) are going into Mods\Packages subfolder, not into the Mods folder directly. Correct?

2 - Have you cleared (deleted) your scriptCache.package file on the top level of your TS3 user game folder, the one into which you have added the Mods Framework? This should be done periodically, but certainly whenever script mods are added to or removed from Mods\Packages. (Edit: and you updated your second post as I was typing this...)

3 - There will be a file in your user game folder called DeviceConfig.log. If you right-click and do Properties on it, you should see its Modification Date/Time. Does it match exactly with the last time you launched the game? If you aren't sure, close everything out and launch, the Date/Time should update instantly. If it's not doing that, then you have a different unexpected game folder on your system other than the one you have added Mods to that is being read from on startup instead. This happens sometimes with Win 10 players who have OneDrive (and its "Documents" folder) activated as sometimes the game cannot tell the difference between the two storage areas.

Package based content in TS3 requires the Mods/Packages file Framework to be put into place or the game can't read them; mods are always package files. Not sure where else you would be putting your mod file, but if it's in Downloads it won't work there as that's only for Launcher installed content that comes as sims3pack files.

The game doesn't come with a Mods Framework, the player has to add it in.

If you could, please provide a screenshot of your Mods folder and one of Mods\Packages, each showing their contents in Detail View. Something isn't happening here that should be, and sometimes the screenshots tell us what might be out of place.

I reinstalled the game and now mods seem to be working.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
