How do I get the world editor to work correctly?!
Seriously, I'm trying to place lots and I've never done it before but I'm pretty sure that when you're choosing to place a new lot down it's supposed to snap to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ road.

It's even worse since I bulldozed 2 empty lots to place a bigger one but when that didn't work it wouldn't let me place the same sized lots that I bulldozed back correctly!

The only thing I can do is place them at an awkward angle. So now there's a giant empty space that I can't do ♥♥♥♥ with because I can't place any lots down!

WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥!

The problem is that EA made the Steam version install its entries in the Windows Registry under a different name than Sims 3 usually does. (I don't know why.)

You can get the Create-a-World to work, but you need to do some editing first:

Thank you but I'm not trying to create a word, I'm trying to modify a current world with Sims 3's world editor. If I knew how I'd post a screenshot of the issue I'm having :I

Are you in "Edit Town" maybe?

Yes I'm in 'Edit Town'

All I wanted to do was move a house elsewhere so I could use the empty space to place a community lot there but the house had dimensions too big for anything nearby.

So I bulldozed two lots so I could place a lot with the right dimensions in the space they were formerly in.

I wasn't expecting that the stupid blank lot wouldn't snap to the road or want to be anywhere near the road for that matter. Since I'm clueless how to add a screenshot I'll describe what it was doing as best as I can.

Which was basically it refused to be placed unless it looked like a Diamond. It refused to snap to the road and be a regular ass rectangle or square, it would only highlight in green if it was at an awkward angle.

Aaand it wouldn't let me place the lots I deleted back either even though I was trying to place them in the exact way they were before with the exact same lot dimensions.

Like, what the ♥♥♥♥?

Yeah, the Edit Town is Less Than Desirable(TM) in how it operates. The best you can do with it is trial and error. Use "undo" when things don't work out and try elsewhere.

It's very difficult to fit new lots into a spot that wasn't made specifically for them, and can take quite a bit of fidgeting.

There's an undo button? Where? The only things I saw was the rotation arrows

You can't "undo" while trying to place a lot - you'd have to go back out to the Edit Town view.
There, try control + z. I honestly don't Edit Town that much, but that hopefully still works?

I'll keep that in mind then, thanks. I ended up backing out to the main menu so I could get those lots back :I
