The Sims™ 3

The Sims™ 3

I NEED HELP: My Sims 3 after launching has a BLACK SCREEN and I can't play.
I open The Sims 3 via launcher and once I press the play button it loads into a black screen, with the regular sims loading circle. Once it's done loading it's just a black screen although i can still hear noise like me clicking options and such. I've tried deleting certain files, saves, and uninstalling but no success.

Expantions[Pets, Late Night, Seasons, and Island Paradise]

Something that has caught my attentions is that before this issue happened (Last night 2:30 am EST) I played in windowed mode something i normally don't do.

Specs: i7 - NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX.

I also just re-bought the Sims 3 yesterday after not playing for years.

PLEASE HELP!

Close down the game. Open your Documents directory and open Electronic Arts, then The Sims 3. Find the Options.ini file and right-click it, then choose "Edit".

Find the line in that file that reads "Fullscreen = 1" and change the one to a zero. Save the file, close it, then try starting up.

Once the game starts up properly, you should be able to adjust the video using the Options > Graphics in the game to return it to full screen of the right proportions.

This didn't work, i went into the file and it was already 0 some how but it was not in the correct spot so i moved it over like the rest of the options but then i start my game up though the launcher and the black screen is still there.

First, make sure your graphics drivers are up to date and your video card meets the game minimum requirements.

Second, has your game ever successfully started up? If not, then go into your Documents directory, and open Electronic Arts. There, simply delete the The Sims 3 folder completely. When you start up next time, a new one that's hopefully correct will be generated.

KING
Same thing applys to disc version right?!@cruinne
i7 and GeForce GTX mean nothing because there's many different models of i7 CPUs and GeForce GTX GPUs...gonna have to be more specific; for example, i7 14700KF and GeForce GTX 1660 Ti or i7 980 and GeForce GTX 260
