Invisible pets
Hi. I bought this game during the Halloween sale. I started a new game, everything seemed ok. My pet was visible during the first day I was playing. But, when I returned to it next day, my pet was invisible. My Sims couldn’t interact with him, but the pet could interact with the sims.
Anyone had the same problem? Is there a fix for it?

So, the usual problem is invisible Sims, and the usual answer is to change their clothes because they're wearing a bad download.

With a pet, I'm not sure so here's what I'd try. If one doesn't work, move on to the next:

1. Reset the pet.
  • Open the console: control + shift + c
  • Type in: resetSim petname familyname
(So, if my pet was Fluffybutt, and my Sim family name was Jenkins, I'd type in: resetSim Fluffybutt Jenkins

2. Split and merge the house.
  • Go to Edit Town and select the house.
  • Split the household, removing the pet to the clipboard (you might need to take a Sim with it).
  • Merge the household back together.

3. Install ErrorTrap
Shut down the game completely, install the NRaas ErrorTrap mod[nraas.wikispaces.com], then re-load the game and see if it's fixed.

4. Install DebugEnabler
Shut the game down and install the NRaas DebugEnabler mod[nraas.wikispaces.com]. Once you load the game again, it has an option to "Fix invisible Sims" (though it also resets their genetics so they might look different).

5. Restore a backup.
If you don't mind losing your most recent activity, you can restore a backup:
  • Shut down the game.
  • Open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Saves
  • You should see (at least) two files with your save name there... so if your game was named Pleasant Valley, you'd see "Pleasant Valley.sims3" and "Pleasant Valley.sims3.backup".
  • Delete the first one (example: "Pleasant Valley.sims3".
  • Rename the second one to remove the ".backup" portion of the name - that is, make it into (for example) "Pleasant Valley.sims3".

6. Move the whole family out and and into another/the same home.
This can be expensive, but it might work. You can use the "freeRealEstate" cheat to make up for the expense, tho:
  • Go to the Edit Town menu.
  • Evict the whole family (without house).
  • Open the console: control + shift + c,
  • Type in: testingCheatsEnabled true
  • Open the console again, and type in: freeRealEstate
  • Click the family on the clipboard, and move them into a home.

My Sims are all visible and I don´t have any cloth that isn´t vanilla.
I'll try these steps on my pet. Thanks!
Just be careful about splitting your family and then adding them back to your household sometimes doesn’t work. Make sure you save them to your library first. That way if it doesn’t work you don’t lose your sims. If you do don’t save the game! Just quit the game then reload it again your sims should be back in your household.
