Newbie Questions
Just started. They want me to Log In to play. I take that as the first warning sign and it makes me not want to log in. Is there anything of value to be had from logging in?

Also, what is with the various forms of currency to buy stuff with?

And finally, I am making huge bank at work. My paycheck is crazy big and I get a raise nearly every day. I suspect there is a difficulty setting that I need to raise. How do I check that, and can I adjust it mid-game?

Hmm. I have generations and seasons and pets in Apaloosa Falls. I'm now up to 6/6 of the female maids are kleptos.

Maybe the maid company is also the thieves' guild? :dsfight:

Wiki confirms maids have klepto trait. If I read it correctly there is a small chance to get a non-generic maid who isn't, but it sounds like that is rare. It also says they might steal from you if left alone in your home in the evening, so that is somewhat reassuring, since they usually leave in the early afternoon.

I love the maid outfit. Is there any way to adjust the clothes worn by npcs?

In-game, not that I am aware of. The Master Controller mod (perhaps with the Cheats add-on) does allow you to take NPCs into MC's version of Create-a-Sim where you can change their outfits and whatnot.

Wild! "generated maids always have the Brave, Charismatic, Kleptomaniac and Neat traits". Now, how is it I never noticed them thieving from me? :pandastunned:

Wiki says they need to be alone in your home in the evening to steal. Kleptomaniacs in general only steal from 7 pm to 6 am. The wiki page on Kleptomaniac trait shows a lot of not-quite-intuitive rules about stealing. I may have to take the trait for my next toon.

Just started a new toon. He is still new and pretty poor. The dog just found a $4000 gigantic space rock [EDIT $7400 gigantic piece of Octahedrite]. The money would come in pretty handy right now, so I'm thinking I'll sell the rock. But I don't know crap about collecting. Is there any reason to collect it instead?

On a lighter note, I'm really hating having a dog, even though I am a dog person in real life. But the dang pooch found a piece of woohooium and now this. The dumb mutt is contributing way more to the household than I am!

Lasty, is there any reason to buy expensive dining room chairs or are the cheap ones just as good?

So what's the deal with getting a naughty reputation? It is clear that public displays of affection (with someone other than your romantic interest) get noticed when done outdoors, but what is considered a public display? If you ask someone if they're single, is that enough to be labelled as naughty? What about watching the stars together?

There isn't one. If you're making as much as you do the only way to increase the difficulty is to make life a whole lot harder. Get married, have children, get pets if you have the expansion, get expensive everything and a huge house, hire staff. This is how you raise the difficulty. One sim with a large paycheck is easy mode. Full families are hard.

To um, actually answer your most recent question: I think any "serious" romance action, if it is noticed by others, can lead to "Naughty". Asking questions shouldn't do it, but watching the stars together would definitely do it - if someone else noticed. (But note, the whole system is much harder on celebrity Sims.)

"Naughty" means they're doing romance stuff with more than one Sim, and someone's noticed, but their original romantic partner hasn't caught them. If it's four or more it moves to "Manipulator" and at seven or more it moves to Cassanova/Natasha. If they get caught by their partner, they change to "Cheater", "Dirtbag", or "Slimeball".

The only way that I know of to lose the reputation is to wipe it with the Clean Slate lifetime wish.

I was able to reverse the naughty reputation by being romantic with my main gf in front of the maid. Then I purchased the "Above Reproach" reward, which says Public Displays of Affection will go unnoticed around town, Then I started fooling around, and instantly went back to Naughty, and now Manipulator. I got the manipulator perk inside my own bedroom, alone with my date. Very confused!
