Anyway, if admittedly faulty memory works, when a Sim dies at Uni and there is no other member of the household in that world, their remains are either in the family inventory or in the mausoleum in the home neighborhood. Snag the remains and wait around for the "Oh, My Ghost" opportunity from the Science facility, which lets you turn them into playable Ghosts.
If Supernatural is installed, a Witch with a high Spellcasting skill can cast the Reanimation Ritual on the Ghost, which turns them into a zombie. Smack 'em with a Cure Potion (Alchemy) or a Sunlight Charm (Witch) to turn them back into regular Sims.
