What other cheats are you trying? Without knowing what you're typing, it's nearly impossible to give you advice.

i think you need to typ in the cheat 'testingcheatsenabled true' in first before those other cheats work

Unless you show us exactly what you're typing, and telling us where you're typing them (Main Menu, Edit Town, while playing a family), it's very difficult to help you troubleshoot.

I'm not even aware of a cheat that makes your Sim younger, so you also want to be sure you're looking at cheats for Sims 3, not 2 or 4.

That's only true for certain cheats, not all of them - usually those focused on debugging that could mess up the game if done wrong. Some other cheats only work from "Edit Town" and so on. It all really depends on what specific cheat is being tried.

ive been doing the cheats in game and the younger cheat aint really a cheat but when you do testcheatsenabled true. then hold shift click on your sim you should be able to edit him or her

Well, like I keep saying (but I dunno if you're not reading or just not cooperating), what you type matters.

If you type, like you said, "testcheatsenabled true" then it won't work, because that doesn't turn on the testing cheats.

I'll try to help if you're more helpful about helping us help you.

i have been terying to respond to all your help but alredy how it hapend from the star so i just started playing sims i wanted to get whatever i want so i used the mother lode cheat and i didi testingcheatsenabled true. it worked and i was in game by that i mean i was playing it not in build mode or something then i wanted lifetimehapiness i use the cheat didi not work then the 3 cheat i didi yesterday was nuydebug lets you spawn items like rocks for resources did not work i didi use testing cheat enable true. and i was playing the game that all the cheats i used hope you respond so you can help me with my problem on sims 3

I can help with one or two of those. The first thing to keep in mind is that, as with most things on computers, spelling counts.

The buydebug (not nuydebug) command requires an on/off switch, so the command is actually "buydebug on" rather than just "buydebug". It only works for buy mode when you are in category view rather than room view. If it is turned on and you are in category view, you'll see a big question mark icon. If you click that, you'll find tabs for tomb objects, insect spawners, plants and seeds, and that kind of thing. Most of the other items are on the last tab (has an infinity symbol). You can filter objects by how they got added to the game (EP/SP/Store/Custom/etc.) which makes finding specific objects a bit easier. Be cautious with what you add. There are a few objects that you can add to the world (Pangu's Axe from World Adventures, for example) that can mess up opportunities, but most are just fine. Some are free, but most will charge you whatever you'd normally pay; you just don't have to run across town (or to another world) to get them. It keeps things neat to turn it back off when you're done (buydebug off), but I haven't noticed that it does any harm to leave it on in case you need it later.

The lifetimehappiness command that you're trying isn't really native to the game. If memory serves, it was added by a mod called awesomemod. But if you open the console and type "testingcheatsenabled true" (without the quotes) BEFORE you load a saved game, you can go to the Lifetime Happiness tab and start ctrl+clicking slightly to the right of the lower right corner of the chest. You'll know you hit the right spot when the number of happiness points goes up. I said it was 1000 per click on a different thread, but it's actually 500 (will go correct that momentarily). Once you find the sweet spot just ctrl+click on it until you have however many points you think you need.

If you'd rather go with the mod route (which is what I do), get the Master Controller mod with the Cheats add-on from nraas.wikispaces.com. It's a lot less finicky about typing (as in "not at all" since it's menu-driven rather than command-line) and doesn't require opening the developer console every time you want to do something. The Debug Enabler also has some nifty features. You should at least read the FAQs for both mods before using them. They aren't difficult, but you do have to have a reasonable idea of how to find the things you want to do. Until you're comfortable using them, I'd recommend saving your game before doing something. If if messes you up, you can always revert back.

you have to turn on cheatmode (testingcheatsenabled true) before you try to turn on buydebug or buydebug won't work.
cruinne Jan 22, 2017 @ 6:57am
Right, and as martinson said you have to type: buydebug on

Just typing buydebug by itself will not turn it on.
The Courier Jan 22, 2017 @ 10:18am
turns out for some reason i typed testing cheats wrong it was testingcheatsenabled true
