Generations, seasons or Into the future?
Not sure which one to get, my two major concerns are A) performance, since I already have some intensive stuff like Late Night and Ambitions and B) Mod interference, especially with seasons since i'm not sure if mods will be properly classified for summer/winter sets etc.

Into the future I kinda want only for the plumbots, so if anyone who has it could give me a review for it, that would help

Seasons and Generations are the big two "must have" EPs I hear everyone talk about besides stuff like ambitions or late night, but with concerns for performance, I'd probably only get one of the two, so I want to hear opinions on stuff like value for money, what they add and do they significantly affect or provide new ways to experience core gameplay?

I'd get generations if you can only get one of them, it adds so much (tons of new items, different party styles, new lifestate, chemistry potions) that the base game didn't have. Kids go to prom, get curfew, can break the law, prank the neighbourhood and their school. Seasons would be my next choice, minus the seasons, it adds the ability to get aliens, the different festivals, etc. Into the future is good fun too, but isnt worth it just for the plumbots.

If your worried about performance Late Night and Ambitions are not heavy
The heavy EP's are in order of the most performance demanding
1. Pets which is the Super Heavy Weight
2. Island Paradise Heavy Weight
3. Seasons Heavy Weight but not as heavy as Island Paradise
4. Into the Future and University Light Heavy Weights

I'm a former Sims 3 game modder who started modding Sims games starting with Sims 1

Seriously recommend Seasons...I don't have it, but if I were given the choice, that would be my choice.

Generations and seasons are a must in my opinion they both add a lot to the game, as for Into the Future DLC most people complaint about errors, lag and freeze.. well anyway go for the 2 I recommended you won't regret

Are you sure they weren't referring to Island Paradise as that EP messed up the routing and causes a ton of routing problems that lag and freeze the game.
I've never heard of Into The Future causing any lag or freezing unless they had an underpowered computer with a graphics card that wasn't recognized properly or having the FPS capped or the graphics card was just to weak to run all they had installed.

I do know multiple EPs cause bloat on sims 3, so it possible that Island paradise may have been the one to tip it over for most people?

Depending on your system specs Pets and/or Island Paradise can push it over the edge.
The big problem with Island Paradise is the boat routing which screwed up the routing in every single world sims will try to rout by boat even when it makes no sense to do so and even try when it's not even possible to route by boat.
I have every EP and SP (except IP I hate the boat routing) running with no problems I use Nraas Mods to help keep things running smoothly.
An I5 is recommended or at the very least a gaming version I3 like the 2120 and a decent graphics card like those I linked to and 8 GB of Ram on a Windows system don't try to play the Mac version of the Sims 3 it can barely run the Base Game since EA never optimized the game for Mac.
I have the Sims 3 all on discs. I'll probably get a Steam install in Fall/Winter Sale if I can.

well since I definitely match and top those specs (I don't intend to brag with that statement), I'd have to ask which NRaas mods would you reccomend then? since I probably won't be running every EP since stuff like show time, island paradise and supernatural don't interest me, using the mods you use should be at least as effective I'd assume

All of them except for Nraas Story Progression Personality Modules. Good idea to make an account with them the Organizers can help with alot of questions you may have on them.
