How do I know if I have the dlc installed?
I have the game, and 4 DLC purchased (Generations, University, Pets and Seasons) but in my steam page, it only shows generations as installed. How do I access the other DLC's? Or are they integrated into the game seamlessly so I just have more things to do?

Sorry for the probably stupid question, but just now playing a sims game for the first time.

What you need to do is right click on the game in the Steam library, then select Properties. In the properties window, click on the DLC tab. There are checkboxes to install DLCs. Check the boxes of all the DLCs you want to install. Then click ok or apply or whatever and I think it should start downloading any new ones that you checked.

You can tell which expansions the launcher thinks you have installed by which icons are not faded out on the bottom row of the Sims 3 launcher. If you have checked the DLCs and the launcher doesn't think they are installed when you launch the game, then you probably need to uninstall the base game and reinstall it.

I've seen several people suggest this fix, but the only DLC that is listed is Generations. I bought the bundle which included Generations, Pets and Seasons, and bought University life separately. I also saw some people say to just register the DLC on Origin directly, but I don't have a CD key to register with. It's as if the only thing I bought was Generations along with the base game. Theres no trace of the other DLC's besides the proof that it's purchased on my transaction history.

Okay I figured out the issue. I purchased the game and DLC and gifted them to my wife. However when she accepted each of the 4 items, for some reason only the base game and generations was added to library. I found the remaining ones in her steam inventory, where I just individually added each to her library.

Thanks anyway for the help!
Gonna hijack this topic for a sec to ask a semi-related question, is the sims 3 luancher all I need? I don't need to resister or go through their online process right?

That's so. Registering is optional, though I do recommend it both for the registration rewards and because you then get a copy of the game added to your Origin account, should you ever want to use it (for example, to play on a Mac, since Steam doesn't sell the Mac version).
