Huge Lag Problem in only Build Mode
Well hello gamers. I bought Sims 3 + showtime and Sims3 Pets. Installed it and started to play. When I entered Build mode Game started to lag. my every action in game required few seconds to be done. I could not rotate camera as well for few seconds from making action. It doesn't lag in Buy mode. its just happens in build mode. What might be good solution for that? Some people said about same thing that it was fault of bad PC but interesting thing is that I had Sims3 + World adventures cracked version on same PC and there was no same problem. I could run game on high quality but now even on low quality this lag appears everytime. I have no mods. only two expansion pack. If you have any suggestions I am listening.

Try turning off the in-game store in settings. Sometimes the stream of suggest-sell items from EA bogs things down.

I turned it off after first run. I hated real simoleon store ingame and turned it off at very beginning. there must be something else... It lags much more while moving camera not actually while building walls or floors but ingame slow down proccess sometimes last almost 10 seconds and its annoying very much.

What are your computer spec. lagging is typically a memory issue with the end user's hardware.

I would try to turn down the view distance, tree detail, number of high detail lots visible in the game options. It may be lagging because of all the objects it is having to render at once and reducing these things will reduce that

I have everything on low. only 2 lots visible. have set on short rendering distance. also interesting is the fact that if I build whole house in build mode without moving or rotating camera the game won't lag. but if I do game can become so laggy that sometimes even game is getting crushed.

Were you just in Create-a-Style. For me, it seems to lag AFTER I use Crreate-a-Style. If so, then the easiest way to fix it is to go from whatever mode you are in (build or buy) to the other, not live mode or edit town. But this only last until the next time you use Create-a-Style.

Veonix-E yes I do so everytime. when it starts lagging (actually not for the reason you just mentioned) I go to Buy Mode and back to Build Mode again. But I have few seconds until game starts lagging again.

Hi, I remember seeing this post a while back, I also had the same trouble, build mode only. I never said anything back then because I was not ready to look into or fix it. But today I took the time to hunt around and find a way to get it from lagging.

So here is what I did for any-one else with the same trouble? Before you start, please make a copy of your Sims 3 folder C:\Users\username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 and also the Sims3.ini file Steam\steamapps\common\The Sims 3\Game\Bin (Sims3.ini is within this folder)

Ok so you've back up the Sims 3 folder and Sims3.ini file.

Open up the Sims3.ini file with notepad. Now look for the below

[ResourceSystem]
MemoryUsageLimit = 20000000
(Ok I have 8gb of ram and I cange the 20000000 to 60000000, so the game will run using 6gb of ram) You can pick what you like as long as it higher then the 20000000 and you have the ram to support it. Remember you always have programs running in the background so I would not advice using your full ram on the game. Once you've changed it to what you want, just save and close the file. Run the game and see if things are any better? If not, then it's something else?

If all works well remove the back up folder and file, if you've messed up you, take out the messed up folder or file and you have the ones you backup to put back.

To check how much ram you have, right click on My Computer (This PC for windows 10).on your desktop, press properties. Look for Installed memory (RAM) the number next to that is your ram.

This won't just help with build mode lag is should help with the whole game, making it run a lot better.

Another thing to consider is to control the frame-rate in the game. The game has no native control for this, and the developers apparently never foresaw video cards with decent amounts of processing power on the horizon. As a result, the game can spike up into ridiculous framerates that have all kinds of negative effects on the game and the video card's stability.

In the NVIDIA control panel, go to "Manage 3D Settings" and choose the tab for doing it per program. From the drop-down box, choose The Sims 3, or if it's not there, add it - the file is ts3w.exe, inside your Steam install folder under The Sims 3 > Game > Bin.

In the area under the drop-down list, scroll down and be sure that "Vertical Sync" is enabled.

Would this work on the Sims 2? I've been having hell trying to play due to frame rate.

I have never tried, but sure, why not? Give it a go and let us know how it turns out.

well I have 4GB RAM so I think that I can not increase the number so this will not work for me. I can set it to 25000000 but not more because of running background programs but I do not think increasing this by small amount would not help me a lot :|

well I will try it right now but interesting fact is that some of my friends adviced me to turn vertical sync off in Assassins Creed IV (BF) and it would stop lagging. so I turned off from control panel for this game and it actually worked. so now turning it for sims 3 will or will not make game much laggier than it usualy is? ( I am still going to turn it on like you adviced and try)
