The Sims™ 3

Frozen screen NEED HELP
Hi guys. I love to play the sims 3. I always have frozen screen issue. The only way to solve this issue is to delete and reinstall the game. I am tired with it. Is there any way to solve this issue? Please?

Unless you post you specs of what you are using to play and the system you using, it's hard to say anything.

You can use a free program like Speccy to help you so we know what you have. Windows version, amount of RAM, CPU and GPU will help (though you got GPU above, thankyou).

Better yet, look through your Steam toolbar where it says "Steam," "View," "Friends," "Games," and "Help." Click on "Help" and then click on "System Information." You should be given a list of all specs on your PC relevant to playing games.

Oh wow, why did I never see that before? :rfacepalm: Very nice - thanks, Zemecton!

Thanks. This is my computer spec.

I'd first suggest making sure your video card driver is the latest.

When you say that your screen freezes, does it freeze hard (nothing moves) or are some things still moving (like plants, or Zzzzs from a sleeping Sim)?

The plants and Zzzzz from sleeping sim are still moving. Every micro thing looks fine, but all the sims, timer, activities, etc freeze.

Without having a full description of exactly what is happening it might have something to do with a Sim getting stuck and the game trying repeatedly to find a valid route to its destination. That causes the game to freeze for a few seconds until it gives up trying to find a route, then it resumes. The person will still be stuck though and after awhile the game will try to move them again and you'll get another pause. It can be a real annoyance.

To attempt to get the person un-stuck do this:
1) Press Ctrl-Shift-C and type "testingcheatsenabled 1" then press enter to enable the "cheat" commands in the console.
2) Press Ctrl-Shift-C again and type "resetsim *". and press enter. This will try to reset the location of all sims to a "safe location". If this restores normal operation and you don't have any pauses for awhile then there was a sim getting stuck.

There is a third-party mod called NRaas Overwatch that can keep track of sims and automatically reset the ones that appear to be stuck. If the problem was a stuck sim and you have this problem a lot you may want to use that mod. The Paradise Island DLC is practically unplayable without that I think.

I did do that, but it keeps stuck at some point

Then, as suggested, you should install the NRaas Overwatch mod. It repeatedly does the clean-up so that you do not have to, and stops the game from getting into that frozen state. nraas.wikispaces.com/Overwatch

I agree with cruinne Overwatch is something that helps a lot with the Sims 3, ErrorTrap is another good one to have also, but it is a core-mod and you would have to make sure you downloaded the steam verson if you are using steam to play. Another one from there is MasterController, I would get that and MasterController Cheats. Forget about the cheating side of things, but it's great for helping out if you have any bugs with your sims, you can use it to fix any trouble you sim may fall into if there is any errors. The good thing they are all from the same site and do get updated if needed.

When I use the cheat method to solve frozen screen, the screen will froze for 30 seconds (everything is frozen, including the micro things). Does the Overwatch eliminate the 100% froze too?
John Hadley Feb 25, 2017 @ 8:04am
The cheat resets every single sim in your game so it would have a much larger effect on your game performance at the time you execute it than Overwatch. Overwatch will only reset sims that are stuck in the same location for longer than it deems to be normal so it will reset one sim at a time not every sim in your game at once.
