You will need to have a Sims 3 account here. http://www.thesims3.com/ One sign up, you will be able to buy it from there, however you will more likly need an origin account to get them and pay for them https://www.origin.com

Once you've got them, then will be added and you can buy using Launcher or thesims3 website. I would use the website myself.

The Sims3 account will work for Origin (no need to register twice) and vice versa.

Once you're signed up at thesims3.com, you can register your steam version of the game there using the CD key that pops up every time you load the game (also register all your addons). This way, the loader is updated and you can get stuff from the store page. You can also download free stuff from The Exchange. Registering your Sims 3 with thesims3.com gives you 1000 free Simpoints (I actually have 2000 from registering my disc version of Sims 3 years ago).

Also, and this is a lot of work, but on the left side of the Sims 3 store pages, a button that says "Get Bonus SimsPoints!*" appears. Click it, watch a video, and you get 5 SimsPoints in your total at the top. Wait 5-10 seconds and the button will appear again...click, watch, get points, wait, click, watch, get points...etc. Something you can keep doing while surfing other pages. It's slow, but I'm up to 525 bonus points already. I mean, you could literally sit and slowly farm these points as long as the button keeps spitting them out. There are new worlds that cost around 2-2.5k for normal versions and 3.4-4.3k for gold versions (gold versions come with a lot more stuff)...or you could buy little things. Every day different things get discounted.

There's a "Make Me An Offer" machine that'll spit out 5 offers a day. I even had one offer with a world and 3 extras for less than what the world costs (not the gold version, though). So there's that.

the microtransactions are a bit too much. the game cost 400$ with all dlc's and they still charge you for more content..... this is ridiculous

Maybe, but that not what the starter of this post asked. I'm getting a little tired of almost every post I go to, people high - jack it and go on about the price, even when it's not even about the price of the game, but some help. There are other post that talk about the cost of the game already around on here. is it too much, maybe, but it's not what this person asked or even touch on. .

Well you know what, plain and simply, people don't like the price, then don't buy it, move on look else where.. EA and Steam own you anything, it's a game not a loaf a bread. people will not die without the game. So screaming about it within every thread not going to change anything. Shame more people cannot show this same passion for the real stuff that's going on in this world, but show it for a game. While everyone else can seem to put there penny in, then why not me. I posted way up to try and help, followed the thread to see if they needed more help, not to read people losing it over a price of a game.

Btw origin might not work in chrome, if you're still trying to buy simpoints.
DarkAngelWitch Feb 24, 2017 @ 9:09am
Oh I see another person who don't like people that don't suck up and agree with them. Well as long as you are posting, maybe you have some input to help with what the topic is about? What I find funny is you are screeming and the price even with it on sale and you still paid for it. Kettle, pot, black. See you...

Zulgaines (I'm not throwing a fit, I've said my bit, I still feel the same, but I'm not trolling a thread all day on the same story, when I could be doing so much more like playing the sims 3)..

RzSandwater (I've never had trouble with google myself! But maybe they could try FireFox?)

I care about this far less than you probably think I do.

EA was voted the worst company in the US, yet people still buy their products.

This isn't the first year it happened either. Yet, people like you and I keep cashing in.

Welcome to the land of the hypocrites... now can we say we hate Valve now? :P

I've put off buying the sims 3 for almost a decade, now that I finally gave up and wanted to play it I still had to pay $100 for it.

I'm not defending my choice, it was my money and mine to make, but the fact that ANYONE tries to defend it is beyond retarded. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ doorknob licking tier.

Point is we, both you and I among maybe millions of others keep buying games published/developed by EA. Even if you went for a boycott, it would never work since they make hand-over-fist profits that a million or so here and there that they rake in overcomes any sort of backlash. In this sense EA and Valve are too big to fail.

Maybe it was just me. Oh it's working. For some reason it wouldn't load all the way unless I used internet explorer, maybe chrome demands higher...wifi or something??

Well I'm happy to hear you are up and running with the site :) Strange about chrome tho. I everything else runs ok for you from now.

I don't really wanna get involved in the "sims is expensive" conversation but y'all really buying all the expansion packs?? As far as my broke ass is concerned, the main Sims game is the full version, expansion packs are super-luxuries (as opposed to the regular game, which is a normal-luxury. I didn't have many computer games when I was a kid). Because of this deal I was actually able to afford them for once.

Also the load times must be ridiculous for all those expansion packs D: What happens when you have that many? Do you pick and choose which you play?

Dang that sounds kinda fun and also overwhelming. So many options. What a blessing, to be able to spend anything over $20 on computer games. I hope to be so favored, someday. Pray for me.
