How do I update the Sims 3?

I've been a member of the sims community since 2012 and eventually i went onto steam and downloaded and bought the sims 3 there. I have all the versions and additional additions of sims 3 except the katy perry one since steam doesnt sell that version but i've bought and downloaded stuff in the past and now im trying to download it back onto my steam game. My game version is 1.67.2 and ive looked online and I have an old version and need to update it but, I cant figure out how to update the steam version of Sims 3. The website says thats I should have an update tab on my launcher but the only tabs I have are welcome, downloads, uploads, and installed content. Can someone let me know if becuase i use steam that the game cant update or if im missing something please let me know!! Thank-You!

Steam does not have the 1.69 update which, primarily, is about forcing the game to use Origin.

If you want the 1.69 version, it'd be easier to register your Steam version CD keys to thesims3.com (signed in with your Origin account), then download and play through Origin.

The 1.69 version is for the Origin gaming platform Only. So your version is up to date.

i buy my expansion pack in steam. i want to play with latest version of sims launcher so i used my key in origin link account. there i cannot see my expansion packs.

They're on the additional content tab in the Origin client.

There is a known issue if you buy Pets through Steam where the key wont show up. As far as I can tell its the only EP who has the issue

I'm running into purchased packs/worlds telling me on the downloads menu that I should check for updates.

Why is everything through Origin now?
