Taking forever to install

I accidently uninstalled The Sims 3 and now its taking forever to reinstall it. It says it takes a day to install it. Is there a way to make it go faster? I tried to change the download region but that didn't work. I reinstalled it around 1:00pm and now its 9:47pm and all its gotten to is 13%. Is that normal or is there something wrong with the download.

Does the download speed in your Steam settings match what your ISP is providing? So if you're on a 30Mbps connection, did you limit Steam's ability to use it by setting it to something like 128Kbps or is it at "no limit"?

As for the day to install it, that could be about right depending on the speed of your connection. The game with all of the bells and whistles is 32GB or so.

If your connection is fairly fast and you think you might have just got a slow pipe, set your bandwidth limit to "no limit", exit Steam, and then restart it. The download will pause when you restart and it should pick up right where it left off, but it will have to reacquire a connection to the download server.

it depends on how fast ur internet is as to how fast it installs. this IS a big game so it wont take just a few mins to do

Also, be sure you're on the ethernet cable, not trying to install Sims 3 over wireless. The game does involve some huge downloads!
