sims3launcher has stopped working windows 7
I installed the game but I get this error when I click play. I looked it up online and tried a bunch of different fixes but non of them work. This is driving me crazy!! Anyone else have this problem?

Has the game ever run for you? If so, have you made any changes to it since the last time it ran?

No it hasn't ran yet

OK. First thing to try is to open your computer's My Documents folder, and inside there open the Electronic Arts folder. There should be a The Sims 3 folder there - delete it then see if the launcher will start up.

I backed up my files and did this, and it still doesn't work :c

Since you're replying in this thread, can you answer the questions I asked in my first reply, post #1, above?

Also when you say that you backed up your files, did you put them back before restarting or try to restart without them?

Yes, I have played it, and yes, I added some mods, but I removed them and it still didn't work, and I tried to restart without them and with them.

Do you get any error messages? Is the problem that the launcher doesn't start, or that the game doesn't start after the launcher "Play" button is pressed?

And finally :-) If you move/rename the folder named "The Sims 3" (inside Documents > Electronic Arts), can the game start up then?

I get a message that says sims3launcher has stopped working when i try to open the game on steam. The game works on my laptop but im trying to install it on myh desktop with no luck. I installed it on a storage drive, not the one where i have windows, is that why its not in my documents?

Nope. If the game ever starts up, the files will be put in your Documents directory; it's the only place the game will put them. Since it hasn't ever started up, you won't have gotten far enough for that file to be generated, sadly.

SO, back to square one.

The first thing I would try is running the secondary installers again, but to be sure I right-click > Run as Administrator on each of them. Depending on your version of Windows, this can be crucial.

Rather than re-type it all here, I'll post a link to my guide. You want to do section 2.2 and 2.5, then see if the game will start for you. If not, follow up by doing section 2.3.
