Some people (including myself) want something more realistic than a barbie doll, regardless of when our sims are naked if even at all. Some people (including myself) do not necessarily enjoy our sims being naked but definately do not want silly EA censorship of nudity when - in real life - people remove clothing all the time in order to shower, bathe, change clothes, take massages and so on. And some people (not including myself) do not see the role of clothing in quite the same way others do and would rather not let EA dictate when sims should be naked.
And a lot of people are OK with the idea that your outward appearance does not dictate whether you really are male or female. There are lots of people who have genitalia that does not match the rest of their appearance and it would be nice if - upon being naked at one point or another - a videogame would recognize this. "Shemale" is a real condition and I don't see why that can't happen in a game like The Sims 3 that tries to portray people as realistically as they can.
That aside, it's someone else's game. Who cares? Let them do what they want in it.
EDIT: Added quote.
For a mere $779.99 you can have this.
NOT FOR CHILDRENS EYES! http://www.lovedollworld.com/item/94953/Virtual-Girl-Life-Size-Sex-Doll.html
or better yet, A Real woman.
What makes you think I even need any of that when the purpose behind getting any of these mods isn't even sexual? Like I said, I just like realism in my games. I have mods for other things, too, like alcohol, smoking, drugs, violence, etc. It just makes everything more realistic, vibrant and interesting that way. I am sick of censorship in a lot of the things I see so I am glad there are mods for The Sims 3 that take it all away.
EDIT: Fixed a typo.
Tell that to thousands of people posting Skyrim sexy pics. They all use... OMG nudie mods! They must all not have girlfriends.. :P FYI The maker of Devious Devices (a BDSM mod on LL for Skyrim) is a female, named Kimy. Oniki Kay the maker of Kinky World is a French Female,Fejeena the maker of Lover's B**ch a mod for Oblivion is also FEMALE. I guess those females don't have boyfriends.. right? Check out NightWynd on LoversL, she posts pictures of herself and she aint ugly.. :P
I think HeroedeLeyenda the maker of http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/73512/? and the AIOAnimatedVagina is also female.
Yeah, keep thinking MEN are the only ones making this stuff, and we don't have "partners".
What about the more mundane tasks of daily life. Should they include them?
Traffic Jams, Queing, voting campaigners at your door, mormons, waiting on hold to customer services, tele-sales calls. paperwork etc.
Can't get more realistic than that.
The Sims has to have censorship. Its designed to appeal to all ages.
EDIT- Also @Alkpaz. No-one said its only men making this stuff. So i'm going to put that down to your inability to read.
My arguement is if zemecton wants realism and not a barbie doll, you can't get more real that an actual woman to look at.
Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind, Tomb Raider, Half-Life 2 all have nudie mods. Even the Tomb Raider 2 was modded to be called Nude Raider 2, heck even Unreal Tournament had nudie mods. Those games were all non-nude, you have to "work" for it to be in there. ;) I think Doom 1 had some back in the mid 90s.. they were just porno pics.. kinda didn't pay attention all that much back then, since killing demons was my "thing".
But I don't enjoy that. I don't find it funny when those kinds of things mess everything else up (well, traffic jams could be funny, now that I think of it). Plus - aside from traffic jams (I so want that now) - none of that occurs on as regular a basis for everyone. What I want are the kinds of things that define a lifestyle choice, not things sims ned to do whether they like it or not.
And that is OK, but we have mods, too, so I can have what I want out of the game without enforcing any of it on the rest of the player population.
Dude, think about it. Nudity is real. Werewolves vampires, mermaids and krakens are fantasy. Need I say more?
Well, obviously this is EA's game. I am not asking them to change anything and I am not trying to bash them for what they've done. I am justifying my right to use a mod if it makes the game better and hence I am taking that burden of expectation and disappointment I would have had if I couldn't use these mods off of EA. So it is a win-win situation; they sell their product to me and I turn it into what I want without giving anyone else any money.
Since when have I ever complained? I was talking about the features of a mod and only started critiquing the "vanilla" version of The Sims 3 when I was made to justify using that mod after being criticized for using it. If you don't want me complaining about anything then maybe you should stop criticizing what I am doing.
That isn't a complaint. It is a justification. I don't need to put up with EA censorship so there is no need to complain. However, you seem to take issue with my using mods to remove that censorship despite lots of other games on Steam allowing the use of mods so I am wondering how far I need to go to justify talking about those mods on a forum for a game that allows them and a designing company that doesn't have a single problem with them. I am wondering just how unduly and unnecessarily critical I need to be toward said game - when I don't even want to in the first place - before you'll just drop the issue. No one is required to even read this thread and both videos have been censored out so there is no problem here.
