I find using E-Brake (Spacebar) on corners that it switches your car into a "drifting state", which feels very plastic and fake and you just leave the corner with NOS. It just feels so... uninspired.
If it can help you I have just stumbled upon an open-source, cross-platform software that automatically backs up saved game files to a destination of your choice : https://mikemaximus.github.io/gbm-web/about.html
I haven't tried it yet but the claims are pretty impressive.
