Dead Space 2 will crash after i click the "Single Player" button
Hello all.

Unfortunately i ran into a crash when after prssing the "single player" button of the front end menu, the game would crash on me.

I think this had started after i gotten a new GPU (1660 super) and installed drivers This happened to both games installed in steam and Origin.

I had tried the following solutions linked below but both failed to resolve the issue.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hey OP, try removing your save games by backing them up somewhere else, then see if the game starts.

You can find your saves here: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\EA Games\Dead Space 2\

well when some of my games wont run, its either two things. try run the game as an administrator or try give the game access trough controlled folder access. once in there you click: Allow an app through Controlled folder access. then click: Add an allowed app. then click: recently blocked apps. then click one of them that have the name dead space etc. Or instead of using recently blocked, you could use browse all apps and find it there instead. and last but not least the third secret option is to try and turn off the antivirus. hope it helps.

Hey there sorry to bug you guys but... This same thing has been happening to me. For the past couple of days I have troubleshooted everywhere for this game to work for me but no dice. I was playing it earlier in the year fine but now I can't get past the Single-Player selection screen.

No worries, I'm assuming you've already tried the fix I posted, right? Try limiting the frames per second using your GPU control panel or 3rd party software to 60 FPS and see if that fixes it. If not, come back here and post your specs as well as your in-game settings.

Thank you for your help, greatly appreciated. On my AMD graphics I used the Radeon Chill mode to limit the max FPS to 60 as instructed but no change.

For the former method which you resolved this issue did you mean delete all of my save data for every game in my system? I did not do this thinking it was not needed, I only deleted my saves from DS1 and DS2. Is it necessary?

As for my specs:
CPU: Ryzen 7 1700 8 core
GPU: RX 580 8gb
RAM: 16gb
I am also using a Acer nitro monitor with 165 Hrz

Scratch that man I'm sorry for my incompetence. It looked like I did have a corrupted save file but it was uploaded to the cloud. I checked off cloud save and repaired the game just as precaution, and sure enough it works well now. A million thanks for your help on this issue!
