I am running this on Windows 10 so will I have to download Windows Vista?
Find Dead Space.exe -> right click -> properties -> compatibility -> run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows Vista -> Apply.
Do the same with Dead Space 2.
Also I'd check if your antivirus is blocking an access to the save folder location in Documents \Electronic Arts\Dead Space. Disable antivirus to find out.
If nothing helps then idk honestly.
Windows 10 has a little feature called Protected Folder Access. This is a feature built into the anti-virus system of the Microsoft Security. So, you will want to turn this off. The con to this is that it basically removes the security feature from folders that applications can access them now, where as before they could not. Think of it as encrypted folders that Windows 10 basically says that applications cannot access these folders at all, for any reason. This causes a lot of issues with not only this game, but other things like Skyrim for example, will be affected by this. It should fix the save bug of any game that saves to the User/documents/folder name.
So, to turn it off you need to open Windows Security. Go to the anti-virus section, and under manage sections, there is an option at the bottom Controlled Folder Access. Click the manage button below. Windows explains a little bit what this does, and what turning it off will do.
Turn this off. This will unlock your documents folder, and allow games and any other apps that need access to that folder to save and access the files and folders.
I did this with Dead Space 2 open, after getting the save error. I turned this off, and then tried to save. Game saved no problem. No error.
I am also running Steam as an administrator. Let me know if this works or not, and I can also look into some other things that might cause it as well.
So there's a way when you go in to change those setting you can open recent file blocks and then just change it to allow then that will fix your problem without turning of file protect entirely.
I have same problem...
You managed to solve the problem?
Solved!
Go in to MSCONFIG and click on the Boot tab, "Advanced Options..." and set the "Number of processors" to 10 or less and rebooting. Now you can play without compatibility mode and to save! :)
Thank you so much i was so annoyed that i couldnt save the game and this fixed it.
