Best platform to play this game?
I own the trilogy on DS+3DS and Steam. I've never played the games, nor a minute. After beating AI: The Somnium Files I've decided to play these 3 games. Where I should play them?
I have 3DS, PS Vita, PC and PS4 (Switch and Xbox One X too, but I think these games aren't on these two platforms). Buying the 3 games again in a different platform is not a problem.

It's the same as the Vita version? I prefer to play on a handheld console

DS or 3DS for 999 is the best way to play it tbh. So much of the game's storytelling is tied to the dual screens, and there's a puzzle that got heavily altered in the final game which feels really out of place after everything leading up to it.

The PC version added in adventure and novel modes, adventure mode has voice acting, novel mode I think is the descriptive text and internal thoughts that were displayed on the bottom screen in the DS version. I think the Vita and PS4 versions are the same as the PC version.

The DS version did not have voice acting. It has been a while since I played the DS version but I think the story flowed better in that version since they didn't have to account for you switching modes whenever you wanted to.

I only ever played the PC version of Virtue's Last Reward, not sure what differences there are between versions.

I think that the final puzzle in 999 is much, much better and more impactful on the ds than on steam. not everyone agrees, but i thought it landed really well.

don't get me wrong, I like and prefer the quality-of-life changes in the newer versions, but it was a little disappointing at the end.
