999 - True Ending Won't Trigger
I'm having difficulty unlocking the true ending.

I've double-checked that my path crosses all the white keys. And I've also played out each of the necessary decisions 3 times to make sure I selected them all correctly:

-I have seen the safe ending
-I took the bookmark
-I expressed interest in the dry ice conversation
-I asked Seven about Ice-9
-I gave Clover the four leaf clover

When I proceed to door 1, I get the ax ending only. The flowchart shows the keys and lock in that section to be locked. Anyone have any idea what else I could possibly be missing?

What do you mean by "that section"? Could you maybe take a screenshot of your flowchart and post it here so we can understand your situation more clearly?

Sure--thank you, I appreciate the assistance.

Top of my flowchart: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=975297653

Middle: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=975297668

And bottom: (the white key side after Door 1 is what I was referring to as "that section") http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=975297684

I've retraced my steps through the decision points 3 times to confirm I hit all of the above choices: yes on the bookmark, saying that the dry ice thing was odd, asking Seven if he knew about Ice-9, and giving Clover the bookmark.

Ah, I see what the problem is now. Just like you said, you've fulfilled the necessary requisites through your choices. However, what you haven't done is witness the consequences of those choices. In a nutshell, several scenes behind door 1 change as a result of your previous actions, and you need to see these updated scenes in order to enter the true ending path. This is what those locked keys represent.

I haven't played the remake myself, so take this with a grain of salt, but I think you can just click the key icons to view the scenes. That way you don't need to solve the puzzle room(s) again. Make sure you view them in order, though!

Alright, thanks, I'll give that a go!

I don't have time to finish now, but it looks like there are actually MORE story checks that happen in that section, not just the 4 usually mentioned for the ending. I discovered that challenging Ace's return instead of saying it's no big deal caused one of the story keys to pop.

Did you accept the four leaf Clover and used it on a certain someone? Nevermind did you discuss something with Clover?

Just completed it. There's one final story trigger--when Ace asks if it's a problem that he left the wheelhouse, you have to say yes. That triggers the conversation with Clover that the rest of the path relies on.
