Local COOP keyboard not working

I want to play this game in local coop with 1 keyboard and 1 controller. I can split the screen by pressing the start button on the controller, but every time when the 2nd player joins the game, my keyboard stops working... I can still use the keyboard to go through game menu but I cannot use it to control the 1st character. I'm not sure if I enabled the coop mode correctly. Any advice would be appreciated.

impossible to play local via keyboard and controller. Keyboard just froze and cant do anything. Try all the "fixes" still same. Can someone have same problem?

And guess what. Someone deleted my comment. Is there some way to report the developers to Steam, because I haven't been able to play their game for over half a year, and I want my money back if they're not going to fix their game.

Your sense of entitlement is ridiculous, this issue doesn't happen to everyone and the solution that the developer suggested worked for someone.

Here is what worked for me:

1. In Steam, click on the Big Picture Mode button at the upper right corner

This will open Steam in Big Picture Mode, in full screen

2. Click on the Library button

3. Select Human Fall Flat

4. Click on the Manage Game button in the left-hand column

5. Click on the Controller Options button

6. Click the Steam Input Per-Game drop down box

7. Select Forced Off

8. Always connect a gamepad before start the game.



Steam controller support always caused me trouble with split screen games and gamepads, I had a very similar issue with Portal 2 and solved following the
same steps above.
Keep in mind that I have the cheapest gamepad money can buy (one that looks like a PS3 controller with an analog button in the middle) so anything should work as long as the game recognizes it.

Just adding that I too am having the same problem - keyboard controls un-responsive when connecting a second player via controller (xbox one controller in this case). Disconnect the second player and game is playable via keyboard again.

I started the game as administrator. It worked for me.

I eventually found out the problem (for me at least) was to uninstall Joytokey. It's a shame it had to come to that, but I barely used Joytokey anyways.

But yeah with that uninstalled, I'm able to play mouse/keyboard for player 1, and gamepad for player 2.

Also to the Convultus person that claimed I'm entitled: I'm confused as to how you could possibly think I'm entitled; please don't let your lack of intelligence influence what you say on a public forum.

The developers repeatedly ignored me and many others and deleted many public messages from various people asking for help. I (along with many other people) just want to play the game we paid for, but can't/couldn't due to a developer error.

Claiming someone is entitled because they expect a product they paid for to function is just silly, and you embarrassed yourself.

Really, just start it in big picture! That worked for me, using an astro c40 controller mapped as xbox. Sad that they don't just fix the bug though!

It is solved by going to the steam library, right clicking on the game, properties, control. And there they deactivate steam imput.

Hello there I was having the same problem but DutchCrazyGamer said he can play split screen without fullscreen and keyboard, mouse and controller everything worked perfectly then I tried the same thing and everything worked. But I wasnt satisfied without full screen so I tried to change the game screen resolution (My main resolution is 1920 x 1080) I changed the screen resolution to 1680 x 1080 and yeah everything worked perfectly again. so maybe the game doesnt support 1920 x 1080 and upper resolutions in split screen. Hope it worked for you.

Maybe i have a solution the thing is i tried to play the game with two controller but every time i connected the 2nd player the the first one stoped working. So we took one more look at the controllers and the thing is that i could be the second and the other controller too. And i thought if we both press the button at the same time it should work and it did idk if i was lucky or smtn but im happy it worked good luck guys

SOLUTION: In the STEAM Settings you have to activate "Enable Steam Input for Xbox controllers" Only this way you can play with keyboard an controller splitscreen. When this setting isn't enabled you will only be able to use the controller in Singleplayer
