Why is there so much input lag

I just feel like every time i hit something theres a quarter to a half second interval before it realizes i pressed something, same for camera moving my head except camera moves when i move my mouse but the head and movements are slow to catch up so what's up with that?

I haven't experienced any input lag. It might be your ping if you play in multiplayer.
