Human: Fall Flat - Theater Mode, Jump to Checkpoint and FPS Mode Shortcuts

This discussion contains useful keyboard shortcuts that were used to test the game, record marketing footage, etc. These shortcuts are meant for power users, provided AS IS, and MIGHT cause unexpected gameplay changes.
All the shortcuts can be activated once you are in a game dreamscape (not menu). Some shortcuts will only work if you already have completed the current level, some will prevent achievement progress. To reactivate achievement progress, go back into the main menu and then back into the game.

RECORDER
Will prevent achievement progress
Unlock by completing level
In game press * on the numpad to start capturing frames. A Red Recording indicator will appear in the top left corner of the screen to indicate this mode has been activated.
Pressing * again will stop capturing and enter theater mode.
At present it’s best to not record machinery in use.
Please note, a 3rd party video recording program (eg Fraps) is needed to save recorded frames.
While in theater mode a time line will appear at the bottom of the screen and the following shortcuts will become available:
  • Left arrow – Rewind
  • Right arrow – Forward
  • Left Shift + left arrow/right arrow – Fast forward/rewind
  • Space – Play/pause
  • Shift + Space – Reverse play

CAMERA
Unlock by completing level
  • [ or ] (Square Brackets) - Zoom in/out on Bob
  • , (Comma) or . (Period) - Increase decrease cloud and fog density
  • F5 - Hide/show UI overlay (hints, instructions, subtitles)
  • F6 - Freeze/unfreeze time (to capture a still)
  • F7 - Toggle fullscreen camera in COOP mode
  • F8 - Enter Free-Roam Camera Mode - enables moving camera and capturing key-frame camera animations
  • Ctrl+Shift+T - slow-motion - time becomes 2x slower
  • Ctrl+Shift+R - frame video capture (will slow game time to export PNGs)

FREE-ROAM
Once in free-roam the following shortcuts are enabled to control the camera:
  • A or D - Move left or right
  • W or S - Move forward or backwards
  • Q or Z - Down or Up
    WASD & QZ are relative to the camera’s angle
  • Mouse move - Look around
  • Mousewheel - Change Field of vision

KEY-FRAME
Will prevent achievement progress
In theater mode, to create dynamic play back, you can record camera variables (the camera angle and position in the world) up to 9 times to key-frames.
Along with recording the camera variable you can also indicate what type of transition happens between frames.
These will be indicated on a timeline that appears once in theater mode.
To record the following please use the numbers above the letters on the keyboard, not on the number pad.
Please note you must be in Free-Roam Camera Mode to register key-frames.
  • 1 through to 9 - Create regular key-frame at current position in time (remembering camera world position and rotation)
    The following can make shots seem shaky if Bob doing mid-air acrobatics (including jumping)
  • Shift + 1 through to 9 - Create targeted key-frame looking at human (stores camera world position, camera rotation will be set to look at the human final positioning)
  • Ctrl + 1 through to 9 - Create human key-frame (camera position relative to human is remembered).
  • 0 clear key-frames
You can mix and match all three types of key-frames (regular, targeted, human).
Note that pressing numbers out of sequence will over write previous keys (1, 3 then 2 will lead to 3 being cleared).

The following comands are entered via the shell (done by pressing `)

1ST PERSON CAMERA (Experimental)
First Person Sight mode
Type "FPS" followed by the Enter key - Switch to FPS mode.

JUMP TO CHECKPOINT
Unlock by completing level
Will prevent achievement progress
Without spaces type "cp ", then the checkpoint number of choice followed by pressing Enter.
This will allow Bob to jump to specific locations in the game.

0-Mansion, checkpoints 0-3
1-Train, checkpoints 0-4
2-Carry, checkpoints 0-3
3-Mountain, checkpoints 0-3
4-Demolition, checkpoints 0-7
5-Castle, checkpoints 0-12
6-Water, checkpoints 0-10
7-Power Plant, checkpoints 0-14

You now know the basics. Go forth and create all the videos.

Very very good work! I couldn't help myself. All I have done is jump around in slow mo so far haha, looking forward to usinbg the rest.
any other way to enable first person? my keyboard can't press more than 3 keys simultaneously

You don't press all the keys at the same time. You type in F followed by P followed by S then finally the Enter/Return key
Why im cant play with first person mode? Im press F->P->S->Enter, and nothing...
I can work out how to jump to a checkpoint. I think I'm just being stupid but I can't quite work it out. Instructions for dummies please...

It's lower case L. That could be the issue. Also be sure to finish the level before trying to checkpoint jump.

Hi, when I grab somethings with two hands and I jump, the game goes in 2 players split screen, and I control both players with one pad... I use a DS4 with DS4WINDOWS.

Is there a trick to stay in one player mode ?

why can i not use F P S mode in the new online and in single player anymore?
it's a proof that the developer of his game puts energy into it
And when will the Workshop be available? and then there are very few maps
and people would have made their cool maps
