Local Co-op broken?
Surely it isnt just me that the local co op feature isn't working? I've tried with 2 controllers, controller and keyboard, and on 2 different computers. No work around found. 2nd player joins in and suddenly the 1st player becomes unusable. Can't control the 1st character at all

Hey JellyBane - try these options!

Two Controllers:
- Have two controllers inserted before going past the 'Press A to Start' screen (You can add the second controller later).
- To play 2 player local CO-OP you then have to press and hold the [MENU] button on a second controller until joined.
- Once joined select PLAY > LOCAL > CONTINUE or SELECT LEVEL using the first controller (Do not use the second controller to start the level!).
- On loading into the level your view will automatically switch to SPLIT SCREEN and you'll be able to use both the first and second controller to control your separate Bobs.

OR

Keyboard + 1 Controller:
- Have a controller inserted before going past the 'Press A to Start' screen (You can add the second controller later).
- To play 2 player local CO-OP you then have to press and hold the [MENU] button on this controller until joined.
- Once joined select PLAY > LOCAL > CONTINUE or SELECT LEVEL using the keyboard & mouse (Do not use the controller to start the level!).
- On loading into the level your view will automatically switch to SPLIT SCREEN and you'll be able to use both the keyboard & mouse and the controller to control your separate Bobs.

Same problem. I've also tried the both trigger/both mouse buttons solution I've seen floating around and that has been no use either.

I only have one controller, so I'm interested in the keyboard + controller method. I've tried Jaybop's instructions, and the screen does not even automatically switch to split when entering the level.

I got this game because my fiance and I like coop puzzle-y games, so I am disappointed with my puchase so far.

Same issue. I somehow managed to get this to work once or twice messing around with my both controllers, unplugging them, switching them, joining, leaving, rejoining, restarting the game.

Been messing around today for 2 hrs (I dont know why I put up with this) - nothing works. As soon as the second controller joins (in-game), first stops responding. If the second controller joins in the menu, they both can control the menu, but as soon as the game starts, back to square one - first controller won't work.

Also, this doesnt make much sense:

first go to main menu then hold the start button on the player 2 controller then create a online server then make it private (if you dont want to other people join)

As a matter of fact, the issue remains unsolved and no-one came back to me with a solution. Luckily, we have smart crowd here on these boards and what worked for me and will probably work for many of you is when the problem occurs, unplug Controller 2 and reconnect and rejoin the game. Still not working? Do it again. Have had 3 gaming sessions and it worked every time. On the first occurrence, I had to reconnect the remote like 3 times. On the third session, had to do it like 20-25 times, but got it to work eventually.

Good luck and patience :)

You guys!!!!
I had the same issue!
I solved it!

Go to Big picture-----> Library-------> HFF--------> Manage game(left bar)-------> Controller options-------> Steam input to FORCED ON and Rumble setting to OFF

Also, under steam setings------> controller config------> General controller configuration------> Preferences-------> Rumble setting to OFF

Seems to be solved on a quick test

What works for me: Library -> HFF -> Click gear icon on the right -> Properties -> Controller -> Enable Steam Input

Restart the game and see if it's fixed!
