Splitscreen or 2 copies - If I want to play with friends?

So I am thinking about buying this game (from humble bundle because of sale and the 2/4 packs) and I am wondering what is good and bad about using spitscreen compared to just getting multiple copies.

You can do splitscreen, if you have a controller you can connect to a computer. For me personally, I find controllers very difficult to use. Having 2 copies, however, is laggy (depending on internet and connection to the other people, if you're in the same room/house/building you should be fine.) I'd try splitscreen, see if that is easy enough, and if not, go ahead and get another copy.

Is there any content difference from singleplayer to split screen to online?

Nope. Online has 8 players, Havnt played split screen but idk if you have to hold LT and RT To join.

actually discovered the splitscreen by accident! Was letting my 5 year old daughter play with controller, and like i do in most games i was going to use the k/m to help her with trouble spots. To my pleasant surprise, it then split the screen and we each had an equal half with full functionality and not a single hit to performance! didnt have to set anything up or hit any special command, soon as i started clicking while she was moving, it split!
