Multiplayer "Grab/Grip" bug! (XBOX 360 CONTROLLER)

Played split screen just fine earlier today, where my friend used a 360 (wired old school) and i used an xbox 1 controller. Just bought this for another friend and we tried online.
Problem is, he cant hold his grip consistantly! He holds the triggers and hes character just
"de-grips" after a few seconds and sometimes he can hold on longer.
Especially items gets de-gripped quickly. Hes using an Xbox 360 controller. (Wired old school)

Could be, its getting old. But the weird thing is, it works on other games he says and ive read some other posts about the very same issue.

For anyone else who comes across this via google like I did and has the same issue, I fixed it by unplugging my joystick. Game doesn't use the joystick, but hey, it fixed it.

Same issue, can't grab things or climb, Xbox 360 gamepad wired, very annoying my friend can't play with me. unplugging does not work.
