I hate Aztec so much. What a horribly designed map!
It has some good ideas with the swinging platforms and the boulder, but this map has a serious lack of direction. There is no indication at all of which direction to go or what you should do. I ended up in a place I shouldn't have been and couldn't get back because there was no way for me to reach other platforms around me.
This happened because I used planks and blocks to build over drops so I could jump over to the floating islands. How was I supposed to know it was the wrong way? I have no clue! And I had gotten so far and done so much, that to restart the map would have been so painful.
The puzzles just seem so ambiguous that after trying many ways to deal with them, I just gave up in frustration. For example, those wooden cranes with the blocks on them...seriously had no idea what to do with that. Jumping on the stick and swinging them around, to where? To what end?
All the other maps were interesting and you could figure out your path. There were even multiple paths and accidentally getting somewhere you shouldn't have gone wasn't a death sentence. But in Aztec, if you try being creative, it punishes you.
If blood could boil, mine would be now.
And what's with the characters hand getting stuck behind its head all the time! Ugh!
It gets me boiling especially when I'm trying to get somewhere and his stupid hand does some 360 rotation ♥♥♥♥ and stops working or one of his legs goes inside him and now he looks disabled.
The map is just plain boring. There's no interactive ♥♥♥♥ apart from the swinging hammers. That's pretty much the only thing good in it as for the sense of direction. Exactly. I skipped half the map by accident because I didn't know where to go and this was my first time playing.
I still play but what we usually do is figure out ways to get on top of the hammers and just wrestle or jump or do random ♥♥♥♥ there. There's around 3 main ways to get up there and it keeps us occupied for a while but then it just gets boring again.
It's all about how you want to do it. And once you figured out where the end is and find out you skipped most things on the map to get there, you can restart and enjoy the rest of the map.
The first time I did the water level, I just figured out some techniques on how to climb. Started climbing the huge tower with the water wheel, and was able to finish the map in one go.
I love the freedom in these maps. Early levels are super skippable by climbing, for example.
And it has to be said, Co-op in this game is one of the funniest thing on this planet.
What Im trying to say is, we need more interactive things not just some old boring level where you just climb. For the beginners, the levels will seem amazing but for people like me who have been playing co-op since this game came out it's boring. I completed the new level in around 3-5mins maybe less because I skipped something by accident. Later we went back and completed it in so many ways until it got boring so we started chasing each other and doing stupid ♥♥♥♥ like climbing on the pyramid or the top of the hammers.
I enjoyed going through this map the second time around (for achievements and such) more than the first.
When I watched the video on it before it came out, I was hoping the creator would add more, maybe fix all the problems, but nope. Still a lot of strange glitches and stuff with it, and when I mean glitches, I mean like the map itself was poorly made, not that I'm simply good and bypassing stuff via them (which I am but there's a difference between using your smarts to figure out alternate routes, this is just broken levels where you do it accidentally).
It also needs some more tools, paths, blocks, ect because this map was seroiusly lacking there. When I played water, I could probably figure out 50 different routes, whereas on Aztec nearly every puzzle has to be done one way and 1 way only, (not counting wall climbing).
Also posting again about multiplayer. Another 10 minute level really makes no difference when the entire game is done so quickly.
Until multiplayer's added it's simply going to be an expensive puzzle that bores people quickly.
Im thinking we should do some sort of thread where we briefly sum up each update to review it, it's just so annoying that the creator does not interact with the players especially since this game is basically in beta due to the lack of content imo. He should get someone to interact with us or himself and ask people what they want, what they thought just like the creator of unturned. Nelson(unturned owner) works with the community to make maps, updates, etc.
THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN! I know making a game is a long and annoying process but he can make it easier for himself if he knows what we want AND DOES IT.
Now apparently through rumors, he is creating multiplayer. But multiplayer is not an essential, is it that hard to get a couple mates in to play for you guys? Holy $hit. Multiplayer is going to take ages since he will probably make it himself plus he would have to add other essentials like a map, etc.
I say, do the maps for now until there's like 30. Good detailed OG maps, with alot of objects, vehicles, machines(I mean like the generator in the power level) and THEN focus on multiplayer.
Also, it's not marketed as a multiplayer game. It clearly states it's splitscreen so if they're disappointed they're 5 years old and can't read, assuming a game is multiplayer based on it's cover art is r3tarded.
There's some games that are meant for local and are good local. This is not good on multiplayer. Look at gang beast for example, they started off local and people had fun together, someone shouting, screaming, someone laughing, someone raging, it was just a fun experience. Multiplayer came out, and it was just sooo dead and boring, nobody to headbutt if they beat you, nobody to scream at, nobody to talk to. Maybe, if you have voice chat, sure but then you do and someone else after 10 awkward seconds says your mom is a sl@g.
PS: Pirate games before you buy them. I pirated Human: Fall Flat, then when it was half price I bought it because I loved the game.
