TOP 3 BEST WEAPONS FOR EACH CLASS
ASSAULT RIFLES: A staple of shooters, assault rifles tends to work well in every fighting scenario at the cost of being average in every field. In cod ww2 assault rifles feels underwhelming, because of their characteristic too on par with submachine guns + the increased weight they have by default. Fortunally some assault rifles are more viable, with more consistent damage outputs that can make em more viable in some scenarios than submachine guns.

1st: BAR/KG M-21 (America's big muscles): since the first updates, BAR was the go to assault rifle and this thanks to its overall good characteristics and big damage output. The KG M-21 is basicly a copypaste of the BAR + extra ammo by default at the cost of slightly higher recoil. The gun can prove to be deadly at every distance, the only caveat is the recoil, something you have to master in order to unlock the BAR/KG M-21 true potential.

2nd: M1 GARAND (Marksman's wet dream): how good is this gun? well.....it was banned from competitive, that is all you need to know. Compared to many semi auto rifles, nothing feels like the M1 GARAND. Fast firerate, reasonable recoil, and an ungodly damage output, all carefully packaged in the most iconic self loading rifle ever created (nothing is more iconic than Garand's PING sound). Being a semi-auto rifle makes the M1 GARAND a niche weapon, something you will rarely found used, but that you will fear once used aganist you. with advanced rifling attachment this thing can 2 hit kill AT EVERY DISTANCE.

3rd: AS-44 (world war 2's AK-47): big recoil, average firerate and MONSTROUS DAMAGE OUTPUT, those are the qualities of the AS-44 assault rifle, basicly AK-47's daddy. Title is self explainatory. Nothing feels more familiar to an assault rifle than the AS-44, with its handling characteristics and performance will rarely leave you wanting more. With probably the highest recoil of its class, the AS-44 will be a challange to keep under control.....but boy oh boy how powerful it feels.
*************************************************************************** SUBMACHINE GUNS: do you want to overwhelm your opponent? do you want to make him lose hope? Submachine guns are your tool of choice. Many SMGs are capable to hold their own even at long distances, making Assault Rifles shake their heads in shame in therms of performance. SMGs are the META on call of duty ww2, something you will always see used. But what are the best of the pack? Let's find out!

1st: ERMA EMP (the gun that never got nerfed): along another latest implemented SMG, the ERMA EMP never got a nerf patch, this because Activi$ion realeased the DLC while focusing on their new IP "call of duty black ops 4", this means: they never gave a sh*t about uploading a nerf patch for those new guns, and for this reason the ERMA EMP dominates the SMGs META. Virtually no recoil, slow firerate but with a MASSIVE DAMAGE OUTPUT. This is a fan favorite for how broken it is. so....if you don't care to be labeled as a tryhard, go on and use the most broken gun of the game.

2nd: MP-40/STEN (The Jack Of All GIGA CHADS): two of the most iconic ww2 submachine guns, good firerate, good damage, good accuracy, good range and good handling. In all SMGs class, those 2 feels the most well rounded of the whole pack + the ability to OBLITERATE every living form with 3 shots at very close range. Again, both MP-40 and STEN feels the same with some slight differences (STEN have less firerate but a better recoil). If you don't want to feel like a tryhard by using the ERMA EMP or the BECHOVIEC, you can use those two chads, the enemy will still loathe you the same.

3rd: BECHOVIEC (ugly as sin, but effective like a tank): this gun won't surely win a beauty contest but will always win a gunfight, thanks again to Activi$ion that skipped the nerf day. It has the same damage output of the ERMA EMP but is trickier to use, with a more evident recoil problem to deal with but nothing to worry about......is a non patched gun afterall. This thing is a menace even at mid ranges but starts to hiccup at long ranges (Thanks god). Guns like these are pretty common along the ERMA EMP, so be careful when you turn a corner.
*************************************************************************** MACHINE GUNS: Not the most impressive weapon to attack head on enemies, but an essential tool to defend positions and hose down groups of enemies at longer distances.

1st: VMG 1927 (the missing ring between MG and ASSAULT RIFLE): one of the greatest issues with MACHINE GUNS is the handling, they are cumbersome and tends to suck at close range, the VMG 1927 makes the user more competitive at those distances, with an improved handling and a more consistent damage output compared to many MGs of its class. Recoil is rather low, and firerate is average, but surely works more in attack scenarios than a LEWIS. Overall is better than most MGs, even at long ranges, reload is also more forgiving than usual.

2nd: LAD LMG (The MG that packs a punch): only god knows why Activi$ion made this and not a DP-27 (the standard issue russian MG), this is a secret that will die with the whole company, but that is not the topic of the discussion, we are here to discuss on how disgustingly good is the LAD LMG. Another bad trait of MGs is the damage dealt per shot, which is not great if compared to ASSAULT RIFLES and SMGs, enter the LAD LMG with its good damage and average rate of fire, ready to shred the competition at short and mid range. Overall inferior to the VMG 1927, but more powerful at shorter distances, makes the perfect companion of a more aggressive defender.

3rd: LEWIS (A Default Defending Staple): its not a big surprise if this is one of the most commonly used MGs online: good damage, average rate of fire and average recoil, all packaged in a gun you have by default at level 0. Compared to others MGs you unlock by leveling this one is the best only because of the damage per shot, other MGs have faster firerate but damage sucks (shotout to the BREN, which has MASSIVE damage but t*rdish firerate). A gun with some problems is the LEWIS, but that can be more competitive than many other choices of its class thanks to the damage. Surely a must have for people who just started playing ww2.
*************************************************************************** SNIPER RIFLES: The ideal weapon to use at long distances, or.....if your KD sucks and you need a boost (don't lie to yourself, you only use it to oneshot people at short ranges). SNIPER RIFLES are a love and hate affair, but their efficiency is undeniable.

1st: PTRS 41 (Tryharder's favorite bedfellow): A semi auto SR mostly used for short range (because people are downright bad), but that really pack a punch at long distance, the PTRS 41 is the most powerful SNIPER RIFLE of the game, this thanks to OHKO window that extends to the WHOLE body. Recoil is strong but not an hinderance if used to pick at targets at slower pace. With one of those, hitmarkers are not an option.

2nd: SDK 9 MM (A Silent PTRS 41): another fan favorite option for the ones who seek a more silent approach at tackling enemies. The integrated silencer is a godsent, but this isn't enough to prefer it over the PTRS 41, since the SDK 9 MM is still theoretically able to get an hitmarker (chance is very very slim, but exist) plus, the rate of fire of the SDK 9 MM is not the greatest, so missed shots will get punished more frequently. Overall a powerful tool in the hands of the good (and a torture to deal with in the hands of chumps who uses it with iron sights).

3rd: DE LISLE (The LEE ENFIELD but it works): you will never see a tryhard use the LEE ENFIELD over a PTRS 41, this is sure, but a DE LISLE? this is another story. Sporting an integrated silencer and a faster firerate than the SDK 9 MM this guns have a fan base of its own. The only issue is that this gun just like the SDK 9 MM can net you hitmarkers in some very rare scenarios. Overall? another good SR with leaves more room to errors to sloppier users.
*************************************************************************** SHOTGUNS: Sometimes the best solution is also the dumbest, and nothing is dumb and easy to use like SHOTGUNS. Are you getting destroyed at close range by ERMA EMP users? no problem, pull out a SHOTGUN and make the ERMA EMP eat pellet. Feeling extra nooby? pull out incendiary rounds and toast your enemies. Defending small rooms and positions with the SHOTGUN is a child's play.

1st: COMBAT SHOTGUN (The good Ol Boomstick): with so few SHOTGUNS choices is no surprise that you see the COMBAT SHOTGUN on the top of this list. Let's get be straight: of all the choices this is the most incisive, this thanks to BONK level of damage and pellet spread, yes.....sometimes RNG will troll you and will make you hitmarker a dude at close range while aiming but......you have no better choices than the COMBAT SHOTGUN (also, you have it by default at level 0), so embrace the "Jesus take the wheel" and pray for the best.

2nd: TOGGLE LOCK (The SHOTGUN that goes bang bang bang): Imagine this scenario: you see 2 idle targets in front of you, you pull out your COMBAT SHOTGUN and aim those fellas, you pop em.......and you get 2 hitmarkers, they turn at you and hose you down with their SMGs. Now you have 2 options here: 1: turn off the PC and burn a bible or 2: switch to the TOGGLE ACTION SHOTGUN and raise a middle finger to the COMBAT SHOTGUN. The biggest attribute of this gun is the fact that is semi auto, you will easily 2-3 hit kill your targets and most important of all things: you will not be trigghered by getting hitmarker unlike the COMBAT SHOTGUN.

3rd: M30 LUFTWAFFE DRILLING (2 Barrel SHOTGUN with a deadly surprise): If you don't want to give up and use the TOGGLE ACTION there is actually a viable and interesting alternative, and this is the M30 LUFTWAFFE DRILLING, a 2 barrel shotgun that does wonders, also, it has a deadly secret, this thing is also a RIFLE. With the exclusive attachment that allow you to use a rifle round you can get by surprise enemies at longer ranges with one hit, but care must be taken, you have only one shot, if you miss it you have to reload another single bullet in, leaving you vulnerable to a beating. Overall better than the TOGGLE ACTION, but being noob is easier so: semi auto is the way.
*************************************************************************** PISTOLS: sometimes considered only as last resort options when our primary weapons gets dry, PISTOLS are one of the most underrated kind of weapons of the whole game. Their damage output is waay more consistent than many semi auto ASSAULT RIFLES ingame, making them deadly almost at all ranges, but they require a certain skill roof to use em more efficiently (or you can simply take the easy way and put akimbo on them and turn off the brain). Overall you should really give a chance to those pistols, they can easily outclass some weapons ingame.

1st: SAP 9 MM: (The PISTOL META Embodied): Unlocked by presitiging resistance class, the SAP 9 MM is a force to be reckoned. Sporting zero recoil, a good damage and a consistent firerate this pistol is more of a secondary, its a a powerful tool capable of being even more reliable than your primary. With snappy handling traits and a fast reload you will rarely end up wanting more.

2nd: 1911 (Your trusty handcannon): The iconic Colt M1911 with its big a*s .45 CAL swear to bring pain to your enemies, and this thanks to a big damage output, snappy handling characteristics and reliable reload time, there is a problem tho: recoil. The recoil on this PISTOL is weird to say the least, it is not so high, but feels like shooting a m82 barret, The only way to circumvent the issue is to keep track of where the bullet land and don't move your eye from that part of your screen, do that and you will master the most deadly secondary of the game.

3rd: P-08 (The Triggher Happy secondary): compared to the SAP 9 MM is inferior in every single way, but this is your default pistol so you don't have to worry about prestiging a class to get it. Compared to the SAP 9 MM it has an advantage, and this is the firerate, that mixed with the snappy handling makes the P-08 technically more deadly at close range. Recoil on this gun is very low but there is a problem: the toggle lock of the gun will get in the way when you shoot, so unless you have the Torch or Abwehr gun variants that rectify the problem you have to see were the bullet lands, lock your visual on that hitmarker and keep hammering without looking away just like the 1911. Overall? definitely as good starting secondary that gets outclassed once the SAP 9 MM and 1911 gets avaiable.

Is hard to make a list without making an holy wall of text, so i had to remove the "honorable mentions" of each class. but i will write them here:

ASSAULT RIFLE: AUTOMA (The Cooler FG-42): title is self-explainatory. When the AUTOMA was released the FG-42 assault rifle got butchered by various nerf updates that maimed its range and damage drop off, making it inconsistent and not fun to use. The new AUTOMA AR exists to took the place of the FG-42 as "long range low recoil" kind of gun, and it does its job well (even more considering that the FG-42 is no more a possible competitor). The AUTOMA is a breeze to use, with a massive damage output and controllable recoil makes it one of the best weapons to use at mid-long distances, the only issue lies in its slow rate of fire that makes it not so good at short distances. Overall one of the best ARs.

SUBMACHINE GUN: NAMBU TYPE 2 (Type 100 evolution): this weapon is a direct upgrade over the type 100, were its paltry damage gets beefed up, the firerate gets increased and the range stays practically the same. The NAMBU TYPE 2 feels alot like the mp7 from bo3, just look at the iron sights! Overall this weapon falls in the category "jack of all", were its good at everything but master of none, but compared to MP-40/STEN you can feel a more prominent damage drop off at longer distances.

MACHINE GUN: GPMG (A piece of trash in real life, a real monster in game): this weapon is rarely used and only god knows why. This weapon is an hidden beast, basicly a better more consistent MG-15 with a faster reload but with smaller magazine. This weapons feels alot like an ASSAULT RIFLE, but its stuck in the body of a MG thus like the others have sh*t handling proprieties. The real selling point of the GPMG is the fact that retain its 4 shot to kill AT ALL RANGES, that is what makes the GPMG an hidden beast. Overall this weapon is usable at all ranges, and this is a rare quality for a MACHINE GUN. but the fact that you can't kill with less than 4 bullets may deter someone.

SNIPER RIFLE: KAR 98K (A well rounded SR): before the tons of DLC weapons, the KAR 98K was the sniper META, and technically it still retains this record. Firerate is good, damage distribution is generous and and overall handling characteristic are great, all in all the perfect practice sniper rifle. The only weakness of the KAR 98K is the existance of other better SRs.

PISTOL: ENFIELD NO.2 (1911 reskin): technically this weapon is not that good, i put it in the WORST weapon list, but technically is more usable than the remaining 2 PISTOLS of the same class (The REICHREVOLVER and the MACHINE PISTOL). What makes the ENFIELD NO.2 "decent" is the damage output, on par with 1911 but with an increased recoil and the inability to equip extended magazine (cuz is a freakin revolver). If you get one of those from supply drops you may want to try it anyway, not a complete bag of trash but outmatched by other 3 valid options.
Great breakdown, Man!

Bought this game about a week ago and this is exactly what I needed to know! It's almost essential since this CoD's unlock system is more "pick and choose" than a direct "level and unlock."

I appreciate you posting this.
