When you're walking, it's like crouchwalking without the perk (Maybe a bit quieter.)
And I haven't tested crouchwalking with it, but I'd asume it's not much better than walking.
Most of the time people won't hear you at all.
But the footstep sound does need to be toned down just a little. It's like they weight 500lbs and are jumping, every footstep.
You can, not overexadurating here, hear them halfway across the map.
The problem isn't footsteps, that's pretty normal in all the COD's. Granted, some more than others, but I've been sound whoring Call of Duty for years. It's amazing what a real sound card and a set of Astros will produce in terms of 360 degree sound.
The problem is the fact that they've taken our ability to build a kit as we see fit using the weapons and perk combinations that work best for our individual gaming style. They probably did it because some scrub ass dev got tired of getting his ass handed to him in MP because he's too stupid to figure out what works best with what. So, you know, in the name of fairness to the stupid ♥♥♥♥♥, they've dumbed down create a class to the lowest common denominator. Kind of like our school system.
Go figure.
