config editing allowed?
Title?

Is it allowed to change some things in my mp config? To see if I can get some Performance Tweaks?

I have every COD except IW for obvious reasone and have edited most of them, some were encrypted because modifications could give usere an unfair advantage but it's allowed otherwise the file would be encrypted..

Id rather not take a chance personally, but up to the individual i guess.

Activision has previously made statements regarding users editing the ini or cfg files and its 100% safe and wont trigger a ban, worst case scenario is the game will redownload a new file if it see's something wrong with it, with this most of the edits if not all are really just the graphic options but certain settings even though they say off will still be set to 1-2 when 0 is off, I havent edited this or even looked at the file personally, ill see if i can find a link..

The config file can be altered as the user pleases. It's an open file. VAC bans can only occur when cheats or forbidden mods are injected into the games core file directory architecture which is completely different. The only thing I wouldn't do is replace the config file with any external versions i.e if another user says 'try these settings'. This could constitute to tampering and may get detected as violation. As long as you're tweaking your own file; it shouldn't be an issue.

What is the location for the config file for this game? I have looked just about everywhere and can't seem to locate it. For Black Ops 3 it was in the steam/steamapps/common/bo3/Players and then config file.

config is always legal, and if you do anything wrong with the config, and NOT some external hacks or scripts, then they just patch it out historically.

This time it's even labeled user config instead of just mp config, so yes, it's still fine.
