The darkest shore, cannot collect spines with the upgraded ripsaw

Hey guys. I am in a bit of an annoying situation, i am unable to collect spines when i upgrade the saw. Is there a way to re-roll the saw or to collect spines with the ripsaw upgraded. I even tried to pack-a-punch and get the R.I.P saw, but it's the same issue. Anyone has any ideas? I tried searching on google, but couldn't find anything. All i get is guides to upgrade the saw.

you need to sprint and then melee with the upgraded version.

Yeah the upgraded one is different, it's just like the bayonet charge in multiplayer, it wont let you do a heavy melee. you have to sprint and press the melee button then F

Also, make sure you are actually sprinting before meleeing, if you melee right after beginning to sprint it will act as a regular melee but you will still be sprinting.
