Zombie character difficulty
Not sure if it's just me, but I feel that most of the zombie characters that you can unlock have ridiculous challenges to complete. Like the starting room challenge that would require you to play a certain way you're not used to, or devoting 2-4 hours on going to wave 30 or 40 for one challenge in a game that (unless playing solo which can make it more difficult) would have you play non-stop, and then doing it all over again a different way for another challenge.

The main reason I don't like this set up is because you need to play your games very specifically otherwise you would fail, so for short term challenges like getting pack-a-punch by and early wave would be fine but something like using only melee until wave 30 seems like it would be too much. Other than that, maybe have life time goals for challenges, like getting X thousand kills, or number of revives and so on.

well its perfectly fine this way, after all, its called challenges, its not something you get by playing 1-5 matches by playing as a "complete" noob, challenges are what makes the people stay for zombies otherwise that mode would also be dead...

Well zombies are already almost dead as it is, not many playing it, but i can say, without the challenges i bet there would be way fewer than its already is.
Im a zombie veteran but i know, if it wasnt for those challenges, i wouldnt play it bcoz zombies in this game are awful, its boring, its easy, way to easy..., heck even the both paths of ee are to easy, they can be done blindfolded without any effort...

Besides, some of the challenges also gets harder if you play with more people than solo.., most of them are missinformed or whatever it is, but like for B.A.T elite and agent, most of the challenges says you need to " complete casual or hardcore easter egg without any downs, using blitz or consumables, ability and mods" etc..., the thing is, if you play with an additional player, it applies to all players and not just yourself.
Like this: you trying the challenge " finish hardcore ee without blitz" with yourself and 1 more player, Player A dont buy any blitz but Player B do, that way its failed for both of you..

Anyway, back to mainpoint, they added those challenges bcoz its something you should
feel proud off for accomplishing something thats harder than usual.. How would you feel if you saw a complete noob who litterly dies 10 times per round from round 2 running around with the best looking character?... i know how i would react and they dont deserve it if they cant do anything...

Also about you mentioned late in the post, something about life time goals instead, well, they could also make it that way but..., if they had to do that, for example get X amount of kills, IMO i think it should be something like get 300 000 kills in that case, but then again, getting so many kills also means you have to dedicate a huge amount of playtime just to get that, TBH, it would just be faster to do something else for a challenge... So, what would you prefer? get 300k kills or stay in spawn room without opening doors and no downs for that challenge? Sure, be in spawn room without downs is insane hard but that would still be way faster than finishing 300k kills.. OBS, dont litterly take this srsly, i just made that last as a example.....

I understand what you mean by the challenges needing to be difficult, and maybe it's that I'm a more casual player, but my main thing that I don't like about them are the challenges that prevent you from playing how you normally would, like the no blitz, or no power, or something that would force you to put restrictions on yourself.

I remember attempting the wave 41 while spending under 10k points (on darkest shore) which turned into being a melee only run, it's just something that no one would normally play like, an hour in I decided it wasn't worth it to myself and left after only wave 23 or so, by that time it would take 3-5 hours to make it to round 41, devoting that much time into a single run does not make sense to me.

Maybe a solotuion would be to put two different ways to unlock a character, such as a harder spawn room challenge or a more time consuming life time challenge like surviving to wave 35, 20 times. It would give players who either lack the time or a team to unlock them but still allow some type of difficulty to prevent new players who wouldn't deserve it.

so you were generally talking about the darkest shore challenges? ah i just checked them, yeah those seems insane hard to do, but all of those challenges are a color variant of the standard characters tho....
Sure, now when you mentioned those, they could have been made a bit easier..., but then again, since its just a color variant, i dont even see any real point to do them..

As for the challenge you mentioned, reach 41 without spending more than 10k isnt really that hard, its very simple.. just get skeleton keys and blitz coupon and dont roll box to many times, sure its still a way you dont normally play but saying that one is hard seems out of place...
Now i dont how those challenges works on darkest shore with additional players, if its individual or shared among all players, but if its individual its even easier, just simply get a group of 4 people to help you and they open the doors and other things needed to reach those perks and pack a punch. But, dont get to many perks, only like 2 are needed anyway, i would say speed reload and double tap but if solo, you need quick revive aswell but for that you kinda want to use blitz coupon so it gets a bit cheaper so you can even pack a gun without reaching the "limit".

For that challenge, using blitz coupon on speed reload and double tap saves you a bit of cash, 1500 for speed and 1000 for double instead of 3000 and 2000 and since pack also cost 5k, with that coupon and pack, it costs you a total of 7.5k, which means you have 2 chanches to roll on box before reaching the limit, unless you also equip the mystery box key which give you 5 chances instead of 2.. This is if you playing with more people and challenge isnt shared among all players and they open the doors instead of you...

Anyway, while i felt that last info was a bit unnecessary i also felt it was good to point it out if you ever decide to try that one again. I wish i could help you but i cant since i dont even own season pass...
And again, yeah, most of the other challenges could have been a bit easier or obtaintable in any other way...
