Snipers Post-Kar Nerf
So, after playing in a bunch of matches since the gun balancing patch and Kar nerf... I'm gonna say that absolutely nothing has changed. There are still many snipers in every match... none of them are behaving like you would expect a sniper to behave in an FPS (meaning, hiding and setting up for a shot)... they are still running and quickscoping. Still using Kars. Still, easily, outscoring other competent players in every lobby. Still jumping from behind cover and scoping a one-shot kill in mid-jump.

The Kar nerf, in my opinion, had no impact on the game at all.

quickscoping is an exploit. it's not the intended use for a sniper rifle. take your attitude and shove it. I've been playing since CoD1 and it was definitely not a common tactic in CoD2. I played the old Carentan map so much back then I could run around with my eyes closed. I even played on a dedicated server that had rifles and pistols only. It was not common and definitely not exploited to the extent it is now. The scope isn't even being used to aim.

Quick/no scopes were very popular in CoD2. Sniper rifles pretty much dominated the battlefield."

Someone tell drybonz im right again.

And do you know what the REAL problem with snipers is?

In WWII, ALL guns except snipers had complete class-wide time to kill increases. From 3 to 4 smg rounds to 4 to 6, for example. Every gun is slower now - except for sniper rifles. And sniper rifles also have more 1-hit killboxes now, too. Some even kill one hit in the leg!

So time to kill for all guns except snipers was raised.
And time to kill for snipers was not only kept the same, but improved with lower shots counting in some cases in the legs!

That is the real problem. Quickscoping is no problem. The time to kill on everything else is the problem.

People need to understand that CoD is not a "military shooter"

CoD is a glorified digital paintball match skinned and themed like whatever single player game it is tacked onto.

With that in mind - knowing this is a fun paintball fast paced action packed game - then you can understand why snipers aren't hiding in bushes or corners like BF or something.

Of course, people do try to camp in this series, but they are the same people who do not know that is not how you are supposed to play call of duty.
I don't know what you're talking about man. I sit down in my corner of the map, my buddy next to me so I know how to zero my scope and compensate for wind speed. My victims have no idea how to play this military sim.

it is call of duty and not counter strike...

Ehh. That was like the only map with snipers, often "snipers only" and as that seems to be a modded server, so I would assume the ADS time has been lowered from the standard. Video from 2010. Now find me a video from 2005 to proof me wrong.

I think WaW was the last time I remember snipers being campers. They were an irritation, but not a game breaker. Then, MW2 came along and quickscoping started becoming popular.

I specifically remember this because, at the time, a bunch of my buddies and I had our little clan team thing going, and we had one guy in the clan who was a good guy, but terrible player. 10 kills, to him, was about his best game ever and usually well below that. He just tried to have fun at his skill level. He was one of those guys that said everyone was cheating because, well, everyone could kill him.

Anyway, about this time he learned about quickscoping, figured out how to do it, put his little dot on his monitor, etc... all the sudden he was instantly topping the score charts every game, literally overnight. He thought it was really wonderful because he had been instantly transformed into a "great" player. We all thought he was a knucklehead, at this point because it was so obviously cheap and exploitive... and soon after we all stopped playing. lol

I stop back in every few generations of this game. I was excited about this one because the last game I played was BO3 and I couldn't stand the rocket jumping... so I was happy to hear that we were back to WW2. Regardless, quickscoping is a problem. It wasn't always a problem. I have seen players instantly transformed from crap to "superstar". Snipers that claim quickscoping is so hard, just don't want to lose their "superstar" top-of-the-charts status. However, snipers blowing away all the other competent players in a game, every single game, just by showing up, does not represent balance in the game, and, no, it is not the way any fps should be. All classes should consistently, on the average, be scoring about the same range.

couldn't hang in MW2? Of course you won't like ww2...

MW2 "stopped playing"

Bro, one does not simply "stop playing mw2".
