Should I get this game or Cold War?
The only Cods I have is plutonium and world at war. I really want to play a modern cod that has populated servers and weapons that I would like to use. Is WW2 worth it to buy on Steam or should I just get Cold War instead?

It's up to you bud. WW2 isn't a modern cod but if you are looking for historical accuracy it would be WW2 COD. Cold War is a "modern" COD basically. Overall, it's up to you.
WW2's multiplayer isn't as good as it used to be (it pretty much got worse and worse with every update), and it's also pretty dead. If it's between this and Cold War, for multiplayer definitely get Cold War instead. Both PvP and Zombies have a lot more to offer for you there in my opinion. Yeah, sure, the base-game Zombies map that WW2 ships with is pretty good, but that's about it. The DLC maps are not remotely as good.

I saw a video of COD WW2 on PC and the lobby looks full to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IP7GBKqb4_I

Dude Cold War is way better. Cold War you can crossplay with console people, it's still very active, Nuketown 24/7 games literally on 24/7 full lobbies, classic TDM, Domination are still full with classic black ops maps. Since you get placed in lobbies with console people it's quite easy to be top on leaderboard consistently as well if you're just a good PC player.

You need to understand that just because someone managed to get a full lobby once doesn't mean you'll get one too, let alone regularly or with a decent ping. Especially if you want to play anything else than Team Deathmatch. According to steam charts, the game has an 24 hour average of 187 players, which is minuscule. This average is also lowering with every passing day, the game is not very popular.

Also, as someone who used to love the WW2 MP, I personally feel with all the changes they've made to it that it's not very fun anymore compared to launch.

Though If you really want an active, modern CoD for the multiplayer, you should probably get the most recent one, MW3 (though I've heard mixed things about it), or wait until Black Ops 6, because that game will probably kill the Cold War Playerbase as soon as it drops. As much as I love Outbreak, the only reason Cold War still has players is because Vanguard was so terrible.
