Crackling sound fix !
I have a Motu Express external sound card, which I essentialy use for my music studio configuration. I never had problems with any other games before. But with COD WW II, and like lots of other people, crackling, popping sounds in music parts, games parts and scenes before game parts were there as soon as I started the game for the first time!
I tried every graphic tweaks possible, nothing changed.
Changing audio from 41000 HZ to 48000 HZ, didn't worked either...
Then I remembered in music production softwares (I use FL Studio), sometimes you get those crackling sounds as well, when a low buffer size affects the latency of your sound card.
You then have to switch up the buffer size to a highest value until you got no more of these little drops. The more vst effects plugins you use when you play tracks you are working on, the more memory the software needs and a greatest buffer size you need to get rid of any cracks and disturbing sounds. My buffer size is always set to 1024...
Tonight I decided to try something around that way, convinced the highest buffer value already set in my Motu Card manager, nothing better could happen... But I did it anyway...
I changed the value from 1024 to 192, and.... magicaly.... it worked !!!
In music production you have to increase the buffer size to get rid of cracks...
Strangely, in this game, decreasing it fixed the sound problems!
I even changed again the buffer size for the lowest value of 64, and the sound is still perfect!
I have no explanation at the moment....
But anyway, I am very happy I found a solution that could work for you as well, if you are with a same configuration of an external sound card and sound problems with this game...
Cheers...

I'm having this annoying crackling also, but unfortunately I use just a Corsair Void wireless headset. The Corsair Utility Engine software with this headset won't allow you to alter the windows playback settings to change the sample rate, but it's at 48000 by default.

There's also no way to change it via the CEU I mentioned above. I've tried literally everything I can find online and nothing has worked for me yet.

Completely lost and can't enjoy the game nearly as well anymore. :C

For me the solution was just to install the driver for my external sound card which I only use for headphones, the onboard sound card with 5.1 speakers worked as it should because it already had drivers installed.

Interesting enough I didn't need the drivers for MP but only for SP, so bizarre.
