Sorry to hear you are running into that. Do you get some kind of error when you press Yes or No after it asks you to launch in Safe Mode? Also, has this always done this to you or only recently?
Lastly, you mentioned trying a bunch of troubleshooting. Could you please list everything you've tried already so I can see what other options you have? Thanks.
There are a few more things to check. First off, has this always happened to you or did it just start recently and after a specific update? Secondly, can you make sure that your graphics card drivers are up to date? Third, please check and make sure you don't have anything that is blocking access to the game, like an anti-virus program or firewall.
Those all could be causing that, but the fact that it isn't giving you a specific error makes it tough to discern. Lastly, one more thing you option you can try is to run your PC in Safe Mode, launch COD WWII there, and see if it will launch there. Let me know about all of that. Thanks.

My system specs are on my profile page and for my PC and Laptop, both of which are more than capable of running this or any game but neither will. I can assure you that all updates have been done and I have total confidence in my AV protection and it has never created problems with any games before. The PC comes up with an error code and the laptop will go through part of the initial cut scene and simply lock up when I try to run the game.
I don't see why we (the customer) need to make adjustments to our gear just because 'your' game demands it. I am also considerably older that the person who put up this post and similarly not an idiot either.
I complained to Steam and asked for a refund and was refused because I have owned the game longer than 2 weeks, a condition that I was not aware of. I wonder how many people buy games and play them all immediately, I know I don't! But I do expect them to work when I do and until I tried this one I have never had a problem even similar to speak of in the past. A minor tweek or two on a very few occasions, yes of course.
I only play SP (on all games) and realise to get certain ones I may like I have to also pay for all the MP stuff I don't need. I am not particularly happy that I have to do this, but it is something all developers (or anyone for that matter that I can see), simply don't care about.
There are quite a few people complaining about this game and I see no suitable solutions forthcoming. I have uninstalled the game from my Laptop and will do the same with my PC, I also will never buy another one of you games in the future.
Sorry to hear it still isn't working. It is always hard to say with errors like that since they don't give any particular indication of what is going wrong or what the error is related to. Thanks for trying all of that though and for talking about it.
There is a general update coming on 4/17, so for now I'd recommend waiting for that, downloading that update when it comes out, and then see if the problem is still occurring. If it still happening after that please respond back here and we'll go into some other options that are a bit more complicated.
Apologies if I missed your post previously, but we do have many official Activision Support channels[support.activision.com]. Occasionally errors can happen, especially on any PC game, and we will always work with people to try to resolve those or if that fails report it up to the developers.
However, that's a pretty unique error message you are receiving. I know you've already said you uninstalled the game, but if not please try the following:
That error seems to be related to versions of the game being out of sync, either through updates or because there are multiple versions installed.
Do you have both the Singleplayer portion of the game and the Multiplayer portion installed? If so, make sure to try Verify Integrity on both of them. Additionally, make sure that in Properties & Updates you have "always keep this game up-to-date" checked off.
If all of that fails then the last resort would be a reinstall of the game. However, hopefully it doesn't come to that.
Alright I will wait the update on 4/17. After the dowloading, I will respond you back what happening.. thanks for all...
I have disabled all background apps, anti-virus.
Operating system, chipset, graphics drivers are all latest.
Nothing is overclocked.
I see a couple of application errors in Windows event log.

Windows cannot access the file for one of the following reasons: there is a problem with the network connection, the disk that the file is stored on, or the storage drivers installed on this computer; or the disk is missing. Windows closed the program Call of Duty: WWII SP because of this error.

I have lots of other Steam games, including other COD titles. Every other game works fine.
Done all the usual, uninstall, verify files etc.
Tried the start from task manager, doesn't work for me.
My specs:
Windows 10 x64 version 1803 build 17134.112
AMD FX8350 CPU, 20Gb RAM
2 x Nvidia GTX 670 in SLI
I used an old HDD and reinstalled Win10 version 1803 from scratch. Then only installed Steam and COD WW2. Worked fine.
I can only assume issue is related to some software conflict. Although as mentioned, every other game Steam or otherwise worked fine.
Anyway, after some cursing, I went ahead and reinstalled Win10 on my primary SSD, plus usual AV software etc. Installed Steam, WW2 works fine. Re-installed all my other Steam games, and so far it's all working.
Fingers crossed it continues !
Hey there,
Sorry I hadn't seen your previous post from June, but I'm glad to hear that you were able to figure it out! Hopefully the steps you laid out, the troubleshooting, and everything you listed will help anyone else who runs into a similar issue in the future and comes looking through this thread.
