Defender Achievment, Rhine mission

First: I must say that not being able to manually save (quick save) in the game (hell, in any game) is a real pain in the butt. And I always forget that most of the CoD games are that way. Quick save would probably have saved me 4 hours today; really tired of having to restrat the mission to get to the Defender Achievment start.
That said, I have been attempting to win this achievment on Regular difficulty and am getting pretty frustrated. (I can only imagine how hard it is on Hardened or Veteran).
DOES anyone have any suggestions for completing this challenge.? I am a pretty experienced FPS player, and I was certain the last time through (10minutes ago) I had shot down all the planes, but apparently not.

Same problem, I swear I get every single one but it never unlocks, pain in the butt, only one I need now.

The bit of that i had a major problem with was the third or fourth lot of planes that come in from the far right and go left towards the bridge in the center of the screen, i think theres 4 planes that come in that lot and it was the third and fourth planes that i could not hit in the end. After i knew i destoryed them it was pretty plain sailing from then on, then the achievement pops up after you get off the AA gun. I think practice is the only suggestion i can say sadly.

I eventually did it on the recruit, i didn't really notice much difference but its quicker to get to the AA gun i guess. One other thing, if it is that bit i said about thats causing you to miss the achievement, make sure that if you know you have missed a plane or that you might have missed one, load the checkpoint before the next lot of planes come in because there is an auto save point right after that bit so you'll have to redo the whole mission to get to that point again. Loading the checkpoint before then puts you back in just before you get on the AA gun. Anything after, you get put back to just after that point, so you'll have to redo the whole mission again.

Roger all that.. Yea, I discovered that checkpoint several times. Last night I was pretty sure I had missed the last plane but the checkpoint loaded even as I was trying to ''esc' and reload. Several bad, obnoxious words were uttered ---- loudly!.

Haha, yeah same for me if im honest, when i realised that the checkpoint was right at that moment when i was missing the 2 planes, my saltiness became a meme lol XD

2130hrs. PST. FINALLY got the achievment. Thanks for the feed back and comments. I also reduced the difficulty to 'recruit', but the only thing that helped with was getting through the mission up to the AA gun. Had Hoped that it would eliminate the overheating of the AA gun but it did/does not: coulda stayed on regular. Whew! That was one of the toughest achievments I have ever played, rivaled only by a couple boss fights in DOOM.

Happy to say I have finally done it too :) Thats all of them! I thought it was a great campaign, does anyone know if we need to keep it installed to continue having access to the multiplayer?

Congrats dude! Yeah its mostly down to luck really, sometimes you know your shots should hit but they just don't and you miss like 1 or 2. Annoying really, but hey its done now haha. Same to you man!

Congrats to you! Yeah i thought it was a good campain compared to the last few cods, bit of twist at the end as well. I just need to finish the vet play through and i have them all too!
I think you can uninstall the singleplayer and still carry on with multiplayer.
