FPS Drops and stays low
Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me here. I'm having an issue in multiplayer where on a rare occasion, the FPS will drop below 30 and then the frame rate will not recover back to 60fps (stays at around 20-30). It's like the game is trying to lock it at 30.

Generally, the game is running fine at a consistent 60 fps.I am running it on medium texture settings with the shadows off. I am capping the frame rate at 60fps as I have a 60hz monitor. The ram checker on the settings says that I am using 1800mb of 2000mb.

My specs are below:

EVGA Nvidia GTX 770 2GB
Intel i7 4th gen 4.0ghz

Since you've not listed how much ram you have, the only guess is that you have a low ram. I'm not experienced at all but i'm pretty sure it relies on much more than a Processor, Ram and GFX. A lot of things can be counted for.
It's definetely not a ram, gpu nor cpu problem. The game is horribly optimized. It mostly occures when there is an explosion nearby and then the fps drops to 20-30 and stays like that for the rest of the match (most of the time).

I know this because I'm facing the same problem on my GTX 760... Activision support refuses to answer my support questions and they even removed a post from the COD community.. We're not the only ones having this issue, I've read someone with a GTX 1080 who has the exact same problem...

Have you found a solution yet?

These are my specs btw:

i5-4460 @3.4GHz
MSI GTX 760
16GB ddr3 ram

I've had to take the anti aliasing down to FXAA and the texture settings to normal normal low low. This has stopped this issue for me.

I noticed that my CPU temp was peaking at 90+ degrees celcius. The game is incredibly cpu intensive, so the FPS drops could be attributed to thermal throttling.

Not sure though, lower the settings for now and it'll be a much more enjoyable experience!
the problem is, my cpu is not the issue. I run it on an i5 4460, which is well capable of playing this game on. The temps peak at around 60 degees celcius, and the usage usally stays below 100 percent...

I think your GPU memory may be maxed out .

I have this exact same issue, I doubt it'll get fixed. Have you had a solution?

It's an optimization problem, I've been having contact with Activision for a few days now. They're working on a solution. It has definetly nothing to do with my PC's specs. It should run just fine.

So they've actually said that they're aware of the issue and are working to fix it? There is a god

Can you post a screenshot of what they said? It's been driving me crazy. Thanks

He said he'd escalated my case and he'd contact me when they find a solution. I'm not going to post a screenshot, as we've been mailing quite alot. I had to do all sorts of things like sending him a Dxdiag report, giving him my system information file, trying if it also happens when i only play against bots etc.

SHG is really working on it, at least I hope.

I also have this issue.

So far, what I have figured out is that the game has huge issues with memory usage. The game perfectly allocates the memory it needs, but there are issues with freeing allocated memory. Once the game runs out of memory, the FPS drop hits in. The low FPS stays, because the game as I said does not free the memory correctly, so once you have run out of it, you need to restart the game.

Only little trick I found is to kill running tasks, so the game can use a bit more memory, before the FPS drop. For example I was playing with Origin, Uplay and TS3 running. The FPS drop happened, I alt + tabbed closed these apps, and the game could run a little longer before it dropped fps again.

Unfortunately this needs to be fixed by the developers, because no matter how much memory u have, bad allocation will waste it. (Seen guys having this issue with GTX 1080 and 16GB RAM)

Only thing I do not understand is, why we are not allowed to post this to Call of Duty forums. I did, and my topic was deleted like a minute or two after. Quite a nice support...

Can confirm that the amount of memory doesn't matter as I have 32GB

Hi,

I've had this issue ever since I installed the game. Whenever an explosion goes off my frames get stuck at 10-20 fps. My solution has been to switch the display mode back and forth until the frames pick back up. This has worked every time for me, but varies on the time it takes from switching back and forth from full screen to windowed. Some times switching to windowed once fixes it or waiting almost two minutes of switching for it to fix itself.

Hoping they see this is an issue for people and get a fix for it.
