Rome: Total War

My Governors are all fat, drunk, lazy and corrupt.
Just like real life politicians today /sarcasm.

How can I avoid them getting so lazy?
Do I need to move them around so they don't settle in?

Or do I just need to sterlize that breed from the genepool. They die as fat heroes at least.

Here is an example of my faction leader.

At least he can be considered excessively lucky with an age like that.

Yeah, I know the Drunken Uncle ancilliary doesn't help much.

Yeah I know
He is waiting to invade Rome.

He just clings to life until he can crown himself to Emperor,
He has been Pontifex Maximus already,
so nothing else there to do.
Stupid Senate doesn't betray him though.
There is nothing else left to do for him.
I wonder how can ride and command his troops in battle, having 3 Command stars while being constantly drunk, excessively fat and incredibly old is nothing short of a miracle.

I don't know much about RTW traits. I bet a websearch will yield useful information.

I don't get many generals like that :D Though I'm a lot more aggressive with them. only about 40% of mine live long enough to be governers. BUT! Those 40% that survive become ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GODS!

Disclaimer: Pritty much...

Me as well. I am so aggresive I am usually short on generals. Rarely do I have enough they are used as governors and I play with manage all settlements enabled.

@Hazardhawk and other convo participants:
Recently, i've been experiementing with a new method of game play. As the Scipii, I have my usual manage all settlements option on, but I must have one governer in each settlement to build anything. I must also have an available general (as in not occupied with governing) before going off to conquer the next, and I must also never have more than one general in each settlement unless i'm replacing an old gov with a new gov.

Slows game play down by a lot but it's kinda fun in that managing empire growth and settlement developement is more challanging, and it forces me to be a little more considerate of my generals in battle. ALSO, I've notived that most of my generals come off a LOT better than they have previously. Better overrall quality as I'm sticking them into a few battles before settling them into a governancy. Try it if you like, and enjoy. (PS, I do not recommend this for new players unless you are confident in your understanding on gameplay).

Edit: Do not click on the link in the post after mine.
